Dylan drove himself home first, the rest off them coped up in her small mini drove back an hour later. Whilst Megan and Toby sat at the back holding hands and whispering sweet pleasantries to each other Bethany sat in the passenger seat looking anxious. When they stopped at a red light Ally reached other and untangled Beth's hands, which were knotted together, and firmly kept hold.
"I'm so sorry you saw me and Dylan like that, Hun." She gave a squeeze. "With everything going on with your daddy you didn't deserve to witness that."
"Are you both okay now?" Beth asked timidly. She liked for Dylan, she didn't have much family and he had welcomed her into his home with open arms, something she was not used to. She didn't like to see him angry.
"We're fine. Just one of those things, you know." She smiled at her.
"I know." Beth sighed thinking of her ex-jerk of a boyfriend. "Boy's are so immature." She rolled her eyes.
"That never goes, girl. Best get used to it." Ally winked and they both shared a small laugh.
Arriving home they were welcomed to the smell of a well cooked meal. The dining room table, that Ally had never seen used other than to hold discarded mail, was beautifully laid. A huge vase of flowers sat in the middle. Dylan walked over to her, a glass of wine in his hand. Wrapping his arm around her waste, he jerked her towards him and took control of her mouth. Not paying any regards to the audience they had she poured herself into him. When the kiss ended she clung to him with the little strength she had left, her mind fogged with the taste of him. Peering over his shoulder she had seen that Beth, Megan and Toby were sitting on the sofa, watching TV, seeming unfazed by her outright display of affection. She looked back up to Dylan.
"Hey, Dyl."
"Hey, Ally Mae. You hungry?" He placed the glass in her hand and stole another kiss.
"Yes." But not for food.
They all sat down to eat a lovely, but ever so slightly burned, roast dinner. Megan didn't eat much, she never did it seemed but Ally didn't think it was her place to say anything. Dylan had only scowled at Toby three times and had even offered to drive him home, Ally counted this as a success. Megan had been adamant she was dropping him off home too, she didn't want Toby to endure her big bothers protectiveness. When they arrived home the girls went to bed, Beth tucking Mr piggles under her arms as she did. Ally smiled: everyone loved that teddy.
She fell asleep on him several hours later after watching another shit rom-com movie and carefully picking her up, he carried her to his bed. Lifting the covers he tucked her in tight and wrapped himself around her. He kissed the back of her head and felt her stir.
"Ally, tomorrow night theres a big fundraiser down on the pier for the station." She shuffled in his arms and turned to face him. The whole town will be there. Come with me?" He kissed her.
"As in a date?"
"Of course." She stilled from his words. Not many people knew they were spending time together, and apart from family and a few friends, no one had welcomed the idea. Hell, the only other two people who knew had both attacked her. She hated to think of the other backlash which was sure to come her way. She wanted to keep him to herself a little longer.
"I think my Mum has made plans for us tomorrow." It wasn't so much of a lie, her mum had mentioned something a couple of days ago but she hadn't delivered any plans of yet. "Is that okay?" She asked carefully.
"Sure, I understand." He pulled her towards him tightly before he let her roll to his side as he turned to lay on his back. He left her lying on his arm but removed his other hand from her soft skin and shoved it under his head. He stared at the ceiling in disappointment.
