Ally could tell Dylan felt guilty, could tell what was playing on his mind. As soon as they had entered the house, with no hesitation, he had eased her onto the sofa — wrapping her in a big knitted jumper as though that would keep her from harm. He lit dozens of candles, filling the room with the aroma of vanilla — her favourite — and as the flames flickered around her she began to unwind. She felt the stress leave her body. He brought her a large glass of wine and played her the most relaxing music he could find. It was obvious, to her, that he was making amends from the scene at the restaurant. She appreciated it, that cow had really knocked her on her arse. He was out of practice when it came to romance but that didn't stop him from trying but with her it came naturally. She was all he'd ever known and he knew how to keep her happy better than she knew got to herself. He told her he had a surprise for her but, for it, he would have to leave her alone for a bit. And he did; he disappeared, leaving her curled up by herself. She didn't mind.

She pulled his laptop out and decided to check her email, something she had neglected to do since she had arrived back home, which was no worry for no one important emailed her anyway. When she logged on, she was a little surprised that her mail box was full and she assumed it was from the tons of junk mail that clogged her email everyday. Her shock grew with each passing email, with each time she read Arthur's name from the screen. Since she had blocked his number, the only way to communicate with her was through her email and, damn, had he taken advantage of it.

She began to open the emails at random.

I know you don't want to talk to me and I don't blame you. But I made a mistake giving you up, giving us up. You are the girl of my dreams. You will always be the one that got away and it becomes more certain the more I think about it. I want you back.
