Sharon Woods, Charlotte - Walker's residence.
Aiden Walker.
Aiden returned home to an empty house. His father wouldn't be home at this time, and he figured that his mother must have gone shopping or somewhere with her friends.
He went straight to his room and stared lovingly at his soft bed. He groaned in his pillow, feeling dispirited by all the events that happened at school. He reached for his phone to text his mom, a quick message asking when she'd be home. He needed to feel safe right now, and only his mother could help.
He sighed, feeling dead tired and heavy all of a sudden, a beginning of a headache made him throb all over. He eyed his Xbox, seeking distraction, but his mind was running wild about that devious grin.
Mason was up to something unpleasant, and for the first time, Aiden considered changing schools. As Adam said, his father wouldn't be able to do shit against that sick bastard. He hated stressing out about facing him tomorrow at school, and about what that teasing grin and those piercing cunning eyes meant.
His internal rambling stopped when his phone rang. He checked the screen, and his mother's picture was on it. Accepting the call, he was met with a cheerful giggle as his mother laughed with someone on the other end.
"Hey, honey. Sorry I wasn't home. Is everything alright?"
"It's okay." He mumbled. "Where are you?"
He frowned when he heard a woman shrieking in the background about something. His heart almost stopped at what his mother said next.
"I am with doña Mabel, sweety. I'll be home soon."
"With whom?!" He choked out and was answered by some disturbance on the line. He then heard his mother saying his name to someone. Another feminine voice rambled through the phone, belonging to no one but the doña herself.
"Hey, Aiden! Have you heard?! My baby boy, Mason, finally found his other half! Soon, he'll take his father's place and become the boss of the Ramos."
Quite an achievement, he wanted to sneer but stopped himself when the words struck him, and he found himself smiling at the great news. Him meeting the girl he wanted to 'rule' by his side meant that he would be in a good mood, and maybe even forget about him.
With a relieved chuckle, he replied.
"Congrats, doña!"
"Thank you, sweetheart. I didn't think he'll listen to his father. I guess he did grow up."
Got to admit, Aiden was as well shocked that the rebellious so-called bad boy has obeyed a rule.
"Mason has always been mature for his age." He felt strange for complimenting Mason, but he needed someone to put in a good word for him. If maybe, his mother told Mason that Aiden respected him, he hoped he'd go easy on him.
