Ramos's Manor.
Mason Ramos.
"Come in."
Mason groaned, stretching his back and yawned, watching as the door opened. He was buried in paperwork the whole day, trying to find a way to clean up the mess Mark put him in. The purple drug was still running in the streets and started getting attention from some old bigots from the FBI. Not like he feared them or anything, but he wouldn't deny that they'd cause a lot of trouble to his business.
Adam made sure to close the door slowly, evidently hesitant about why he was here for, tugging at his shirt, which Mason had determined as a nervous tic.
"Boss," He started, making him frown at the alarmed expression, at that high note of his tone, and how his voice cracked. Mason studied him with a frown, anticipating what the other was here to discuss.
Adam looked sad behind that failure of a composed look, almost as broken as when he forced him to witness Silas's punishment.
"What is it, Adam? I ain't got all day."
The other jumped slightly at the dark tone of his voice and pushed his glasses back, taking a seat without getting his permission, just by how nervous and anxious he was.
"I-It's Aiden." His brown eyes looked watery behind the lenses. His lips were chapped up by how much he's been gnawing on them. To Mason, Adam was so pathetic. A weakling, a wimp, so unreliable. If it weren't for his surprisingly amazing skills in computer programming, he'd probably be sleeping with fishes, in the middle of the ocean, with all of those who opposed him. Having him as part of the mob, although by force, has undeniably benefited Mason so much.
"He's not talking nor eating. He's just gazing at nothing and not reacting at all when we talk to him."
He trailed off when Mason abruptly stood up, probably thinking that he was pissed, as he usually would get when being bothered by something he considered trivial. What Adam didn't know was that Mason was as concerned as him.
Strange. It was a weird feeling Mason never experienced before for someone as if something stirred inside him. Something snaked around his heart, making it thud hard in a strange way. It was so sudden that his feet almost gave in, supporting himself against his sturdy desk.
He left the room yesterday night after Aiden fainted and was unresponsive. He knew that he'd be mad, scared, and weak when Aiden would wake up, so he allowed his parents to see him and be there for him. He gave him some space, and he didn't know why. He tried to concentrate on work to take his mind off of him, but he'd always be tracking his steps back because he'd lose focus.
Aiden has invaded his mind, his thoughts, and was closing in on his heart.
There was this new feeling, too; a sickness clogging his throat when those brown eyes dulled away. When Mason snaked his hand around that long and elegant neck, he was surprised when Aiden's warm hand moved and softly settled on his own. It bothered him that his husband urged him to squeeze his neck tighter. . .
