Chapter 12 Raven

Raven waited inside her room until the talking of her father and the demons had died out. Before she had entered her room she had taken a quick glance as to which room one of the guards had taken jack to so that she could pay him a visit later on. Raven left her room, not before taking a glass of water with her, and made her way down the hall to where Jack was staying. Raven found jack sitting on a bed, his hand tied to the bed pole just like her father had ordered. "How are your wounds doing?" Raven's voice startled Jack, making him jump up slightly and turn his face to look at Raven, his face relaxing slightly again when seeing it was her. "They're doing better. Although getting stabbed in the eye was a first for me." Jack spoke, a slight hint of amusement heard in his voice, as if he were trying to cover up the pain. Raven sighed and took a place on the bed next to him, placing the glass of water on the nightstand, "I'm so sorry for my father. I wish it wouldn't be this way but there's not much I can do." Jack smiled at her, nodding in understanding, "It's okay. I didn't really expect the overlord to be exactly nice to a human who's hunting him." He grabbed the glass of water and gulped it down in one go, clearly thirsty. Raven's eyes drifted to the shackles, one around Jack's wrist, the other around the bed pole. "Are they long enough for you to lie down?" Raven asked whilst gesturing towards the shackles, Jack following her gaze. "Yes, they are. It's a bit uncomfortable but I'll make it work." Raven nodded, doubting whether or not she should take them off or not, but then reminded herself that she didn't know Jack that well yet and her father would kill her if Jack were to escape. Raven stood up and filled the glass once more with water, "Well, I'll let you get your rest now. You'll need it." Jack let out a soft 'thank you' and with that Raven left the room.
