I can't believe it, I'm marrying Maxon Schreave. I'm going to be the next queen of Illeá. I never even gave a thought that an average girl like me could sweep him off his feet. Then again, he hasn't had much experience in the dating world, but neither have I. I don't get it.
"America, darling, are you alright?" Maxon asked, bringing me out of my reverie. I shook my head and looked up at him.
"Yeah, I'm fine. Why?" I asked as I smiled at him.
"Just making sure, I've been trying to talk to you for about five minutes now, and this is the first you've answered me," Maxon said, bringing my face close to his and kissing the tip of my nose.
"Sorry, hon. I didn't realize that I had zoned out," I said, unable to hide the blush rising to my cheeks.
"It's alright, I just wanted to make sure you weren't having second thoughts," Maxon said.
"No, never," I said. "By the way, and I hope you don't mind, my mom and sister are coming over soon so they can help with the wedding planning."
"No, I don care. It will be nice to see them again," he said.

We then walked up to one of the many tables in the dining hall, and this one was covered with various flowers and linens.
"Lady America, what would you like the flowers to be for the wedding?" One of the maids asked me.
"Um, I don't know, is there a certain flower that's symbolized for the royal family?" I asked, looking at Maxon.
"It depends on the event. If it's a ball or some type of party, then we use orchids for decorating, but for weddings it's typical to use roses or lilacs. But you can pick whatever flower you like, you know. You don't have to stick to the books," Maxon said to me as he wrapped his arm around my waist.
"I know," I said. Just as I was about to say which one I wanted, I heard May's voice ring through the dining room.
"America!" She said, running to hug me.
"Hey, May! Hi mom," I said grateful for the momentary distraction.
"How's the wedding planning going?" Mom asked.
"Good, a little stressful, but good," Maxon said.
"Oh, guys, lilacs or roses?" I asked my mom and sister, pointing down towards the flower table.
"Roses!" May said, mom shook her head in agreement.
"Roses it is. Do you think they could be blue? I want to have blue and white for the wedding colors," I said, which earned a smile from Maxon.
"Light blue or dark blue?" May asked.
"Dark blue, because it's a royal color, and this is a royal wedding after all," I said teasingly.

The rest of our afternoon was quite similar, but by the time we were done, we had all of the food and decorations figured out. The only things left were the cake and the wedding attire, but those are for another day.
"Planning a wedding is exhausting," I said to Maxon as we collapsed onto his bed.
"You're telling me," he said and laughed.
     "I love you," I said.
"I love you too, America," Maxon said as his eyes closed. In seconds he had fallen asleep. I don't know if it was from the exhausting day, or my lack of sleep lately, but I was tired. I quickly changed out of my dress and into pajamas and fell asleep as soon as my head hit the pillow.
