When I woke up I was alone. For a moment I thought I just dreamt the whole thing but the small stinging on my neck had reassured me it was real, that it actually happened. A note was placed neatly on the pillow next to me.
Drink lots of water and get some protein.
Until tonight.

Shit! What time is it? I released a breath of relief. It was only 6:13 am. Just enough time to make my parents a hangover breakfast. When I stood up I felt a little dizzy. Maybe it’s the blood you gave a vampire! I caressed the swollen marks and smiled at the memory. When I got downstairs my mom was already there drinking coffee.
“Wild night, eh?”
She grumbled something indistinguishable. I quickly whipped up omelets and hash browns. I heard my father before I saw him. His footsteps sounded like a lethargic elephants. I set down their plates and we ate in silence.
“You need to get your car fixed.” My father said not looking up from his plate.
“I don’t have the money for that.” He slammed his fists on the table startling even my mom.
“I don’t give a shit. I don’t need you advertising it while you drive your damn car.”
“I didn’t do that to it dad.” He threw his silverware into the table and looked around the room avoiding my eyes at every chance he got.
“I don’t care who did it. Get it fixed dammit!”
“Liam! Stop it.” My mother glared at him.
“Don’t give me that shit Roslyn! I don’t need the whole world knowing my son is a fucking queer!”
I sighed loudly, same old shit.
“Shut up! Everyone already knows Liam.” My father returned my mother’s glare.
“I don’t care give him money to fix it.” He got up and threw his food into the garbage.
“Ryk-”
“Shut the up right now Liam! Felix is NOT Ryker! Stop comparing him to him, Ryker would NEVER want this!” My mother’s voice started to tremble. Unwanted tears filled all of our eyes.
“Felix is just as amazing as Ryker was. Ryker loved him for who he is an you need to learn how to. I can’t deal with this shit all the time. The two year mark is creeping up on us and I know we’re all stressed out but I know you guys don’t want this just as much as I don’t. So please...”
She was cut off my her sobs. My father clenched his fists and tried to hold back his tears. I got up and hugged my mom. I wiped my tears with the back of my sleeve.
“I’ll get it fixed dad.” His tears trickled slowly down his cheeks and he hurried up stairs. I kissed her hair and gave her a reassuring pat on the back.
“I’ve got to get ready for school mom. I love you.”
She sobbed harder into her robe. I fumbled up the stairs and changed quickly. I had to ride the bus because my car was trashed. When it finally reached my house I had to run out because I forgot my scarf.
School passed by slowly as usual. Tyler tried to talk to me but I ignored him. The same old school bullshit. When I arrived home I decided to take a walk in the woods behind my house. The same path Tyler, Momo, and I used to play on. The wind was cold but the fresh air was amazing. I stopped and sat on a large rock on the border of the small creek that separates the woods. I watched as the water as it rushed over rocks and flowed together. A small gust of wind made me turn my attention the the tree behind me. A pair of magnificent red eyes met mine.
