Chapter Twelve

Riley's POV

Even though I hurt Vlad, Ingrid was right. I have to leave.

'They can't find out. If they do, well.. stop thinking negatively, Riley! You can leave this house just as it was if you sneak out successfully. So please don't stuff this up.' I thought.

I can't tell anyone, especially anyone from the Dracula family. I have to go to Aunt Eva's house and do some research there.

I grabbed all my necessities and tied my hair up, careful not to leave any strands on the floor. There may be alchemist in this place. DNA is the last thing I want to leave behind. I zipped up my bag and ran down the hallway to the nearest exit. I kept a scarf around my neck just in case, because I seemed to be running out of stasis spray.

"Where are you going?"

I turned around, fear almost making my heart jump out of my body. "That's none of your business," I replied, not making eye contact.

"Is it true?" he questioned, eager to know the answer.

"Is what true?" I answered, clueless. I tried to walk a few more steps forward, hoping he wouldn't notice.

"Are you a werewolf?" I started laughing, and continued walking towards the door. "Answer my question, Riley!"

"Just because I had a sleepover at your house, it doesn't make us BFF's, and it most certainly does not make you my boss. So, please move aside before I make you."

Confession time. I have this anger thing. Aunt Eva says I'm "out of control", but I'm trying to deal with it. I like to think of it as a disease; something I can get rid of if I treat it right. But, things do get out of hand. Sometimes.

Vlad flitted in front of me. I looked into his eyes. I tried to resist, but he was just so close to me. Vlad's eyes turned a glimmering aureolin colour.  That only means one thing.

Hypnosis.

"But, it makes me someone trustworthy enough to answer a yes or no question to, am I right?" he smiled.

"Nice try, but I'm still not going to answer that. Do however much research you want, but you aren't getting anything out of me," I grinned, letting Vlad's grip of my arm go.

I strolled close enough to the insanely large doors to open them.

"Riley, wait---" I didn't bother turning around to listen to what Vlad had to say. "STOP, please."

I smiled. 'Please?' I thought, 'he's using manners now?' I stopped, just because I thought it was the right thing to do. Vlad seemed desperate.

"Erin," he started, "she was a breather when she first stepped into this school." Suddenly, all ears were paying attention to what Vlad had to say. "She saved Ingrid's life, by bringing her to me in time for an antidote to me brought to her. My Dad didn't admit to liking either of them. He was angry at a stranger stepping foot into his home without his permission."

"Vlad, you don't have to tell me this," I told him, hoping he would say that he did want to tell me, because I was extremely interested in what he had to say.

"Please don't go," Vlad begged. At that time, all that was going through my head was 'Stay for the rest of the story!' and 'Make sure you find out what happened to Erin.' But things like 'Why does he want me to stay so much?' didn't cross my mind once.

I slightly nodded and walked back into his 'house' for a second time.

This time being invited in.
