A/N: This chapter is a cheat chapter. Yes, you do meet some more characters, and you may get a lot more confused than I hoped, but I am trying so hard to find time for this book. There is no actual purpose to this chapter except you find out about some more relationships with other characters and personality traits of new ones. I hope you love Roman's character and if you don't figure it out by the end of the chapter, 'Cordelia' and 'Lia' are the same person.

Chapter Nineteen:

Roman's POV

"What do you mean they're gone?"

"You heard what I said. They're gone, Roman. They ran." Cordelia was stood tall and rigid. She was wearing a 1920's polka dot swing dress, tied together around the waist with a leather belt and buckle. She was beautiful, and will always will be.

"They would never run," I defended, "And if they did run, it was to find her." I wished I could see my own pathetically worried expression in my reflection. But unfortunately, seeing my perfectly carved cheekbones in the mirror was a privilege I could not have. A privilege people like me could not have. "Lia, listen to me."

"Roman, I have listening to you for months now!" Cordelia was red with fury, "Riley should not have left the coven without my permission! She has caused misery among my people because she took the Book."

'My people'. I was never a part of them. The Spiritworld was my home, but it a home I never belonged unless Riley was here. I am a vampire. I am no spirit.

"What did Gabriela say?" I questioned, tense.

"The Queen denied the search I requested," Cordelia explained. I stiffened.

"HOW DARE SHE?" I bellowed, hearing mumbling at the door. "She cannot just deny it! Her daughters are missing! Spirits are missing!"

"Do not speak of the Queen like she is not yours too," Cordelia protectively yelled. I couldn't reply to her comment without contemplating everything the Spirit Queen had done for me. She'd ignored the law and allowed a vampire to live in her realm.

"You know what Riley means to me," I murmured. Lia's shoulder relaxed and she gazed at the floor. She pulled down the edge of her short dress as she sat on my messy bed. Compared to my room, Cordelia was like a beacon of light. She shone without the help of luminescent objects. She shone of positive vibes and love.

"The sparkle in your eyes will never disguise the hurt that wallowed there before," Cordelia said.

"Lia--"

"But I need you to know that when the waves of rejection are crashing overhead," she continued, "I will stand by you."

I was not surprised. Lia always found the perfect moment to give a free-styled speech about always being there for me. Not because I was helpless or friendless. It was because I was different.

Cordelia lifted herself off the bed and brushed her backside (probably in fear of mutant dust mites). "Do NOT forget who your friends are, Roman."

"You are my best friend. Tabitha, Talise and Talitha are my sisters; blood or not. But Riley...," I stuttered in the end. "She is my prima iubire.
First love.

Lia smiled as she twisted the knob of the door. "I see you've been practicing your Romanian, my prieten."

"Is that Romanian for 'potato'?" I asked.

"Why would I call you a 'potato'?" Cordelia was genuinely bewildered. A smile cracked her mask of confusion, which soon led to a laugh.

"I suppose I was just looking for a mood killer." I laughed at my own remark, which didn't make me feel as good as I wished it would be.

"It's true what they say then?" Cordelia's smile could honestly lift me up to the highest of the seven heavens. She had this smile; it was uncommon to witness, but when you did, 'euphoria' would not even cover the feeling that would burst into your chest.

"Yes, it is true," I answered, "I am devilishly handsome."

Lia tried to conceal an inevitable laugh (more of a cackle), but I knew her. She wouldn't make it past the three second mark. "If I could strangle you for being so narcissistic, I would."

"You love me."

"Yes, and you're lucky I do." I watched as she ran up to me and kissed me on the forehead. Her lips were unimaginably soft, like you're drowning in quicksand and it soon after I could smell a floral fragrance jump off her clothes.

Lia left the room almost immediately, as if in a rush. I could hear the sharp tapping of her heels as they rattled the floorboards.

"I know I am," I stated, knowing she wouldn't hear me. I sighed.

"By the way," Lia ran back into the room, "They say 'black is your brightest colour'."

"Oh do they?" I snapped back. She nodded.

"Now, I am going to defy the law and illegally get a stack of papers passed by the Court to send a search of spirits to find the missing of my coven. After that I'll probably get caught and punished for disobeying the law and the Queen will have to be lenient considering I saved her daughters' lives," she caught her breath, "Want to join me?"

"Of course, my prieten," I replied, grabbing my mostly black and red leather jacket.

"Did you figure out what it means?" Cordelia inquired.

"'Potato' is good enough for me," I said, leading Lia out of my room and into the hallway. She seemed worried that I would use the word in the wrong context and/or to the incorrect person.

But then she gently grabbed my arm and said, "Let's go find them."
