“You WHAT?!” screams Rose. Her face is a mixture of pain and worry, and it kills me to see her like that. I give a little nod and she pulls me into a huge bear hug. “Oh Callie, you’re going to be okay though?” she continues. I shake my head, “Terminal, cancer Rose.” It’s all I can choke out as the tears begin to roll down my cheeks again. Rose bursts out crying as well, “Why you?!” she yells, “Why does it have to be you? Why can’t it be me? Or anyone else for that fact?!” I look at my hands as she lets out her shouts. She never was very quiet or collected. Everything’s a drama. I don’t want to have a drama made, I want to slip away, unknown. As she screams, a lot of nurses glare in our direction and I begin to feel quite embarrassed. “C’mon Rose, we’ll go to my room,” I say, taking her hand and dragging her towards my ward. She follows, or allows herself to be dragged, silently.

We walk through the wards, the bitter stench of hospital and antibacterial soap filling our nostrils, threatening to make my vomit. Finally, we arrive at my room and I open the door, pulling Rose inside, before closing it again quickly. She walks over and sits down on the bed, looking around the room in disgust, “So, they’re making you stay in…here?” she says. Her voice mimics the disgusted look on her face; I can tell she is not impressed. I nod, and almost burst out laughing as she looks around the room, fake vomiting. “Right then, I’ll go to your house tonight and bring all your 1D poster and pictures and I’ll bring some magazines and stuff tomorrow?” She asks, well, decides. I laugh at her determination, before saying, “But you have school tomorrow Rose, remember…?” she gives a little nod before a menacing grin makes its way onto her face, “I do have school tomorrow. But I don’t have to go, no one can make me, right?” I look at her, she always tries to skive, she likes to think she’s a rebel…but we all know she’s not. I shake my head, “nope, you have to go! I’m making you; you’ve got your exams soon!” she looks at me with big, puppy dog eyes, before moaning “Noooooo!” and putting on her sad face. Now, something you should know about Rose, her sad face is the saddest thing I have EVER seen in my life. Ever. I can’t resist it, “Fine,” I sigh, and her face instantly lights up as she jumps about the room, doing something which I suppose is meant to look like dancing. Oh, how I love my Rose. I begin to feel light headed and dizzy, so stumble over to the bed and sit down as the migraines start again.

It starts off weak, not too bad, like a snake getting ready to pounce. The pain builds up and up, piercing through my brain, stopping me from being able to think about anything else. The snake pounces. It sears through my mind, burning all my thoughts. I lie down as I feel blood dribbling from my nose and into my mouth, I can’t move. Then everything goes black.

I look over at Callie, stumbling over to the bed; lying down; passing out. I watch as she starts to have a fit, jerking about on the bed like a dead body being tazed. “HELP!” I scream, “HELP!” I run out into the hall yelling for someone, anyone. Before long, a team of doctors and nurses sprint into Callie’s room, closing the door. I sit outside, as I hear the screams from inside the room. Those screams will never leave my head. They will haunt me to the day I die.

I wake up to a team of doctors and nurses looking over me like I am a specimen in a chemical factory. They look at me like I’m a broken toy, not a human. I guess they're just used to this, but I'm not.
