Scott was the sweetest person he could be for Mitch. He basically drowned him in compliments. After he let him shave his head, he often petted it gently. He hugged him, kissed him and caressed him. He tried to subtly show his love to him, but maybe it was too subtle, because they've always been that close.
Mitch's reactions to his sweetness gave him mixed feelings: sometimes he kinda backed off, he was detached, but at other moments he totally accepted his affection. What did that mean? Scott had no clue. Actually it was like nothing happened. In fact nothing really happened, but still. On the outside everything seemed normal, but on the inside Scott was one big chaos.
"Scooter, I'm going on a date tomorrow." Mitch called.
"Again? No, Mitchy, please don't leave me alone!" Scott walked towards the small figure with his arms wide open. His body language screamed: hug me! "I don't want to be alone in this big house," he pouted.
Mitch looked at him, ignored his cute pout and his open arms and coldly said: "Then invite some friends, if you don't want to be alone. You'll have the house for yourself. I probably won't even sleep here." He turned around and walked away.
"Hey! Alright, fine! I will invite some friends, but..."
Mitch just continued walking to the kitchen and ignoring him.
"Hey, Mitch, wait! Don't ignore my hug! That's so mean. I feel rejected." Scott pouted even more, like a child that was just told they wouldn't get any ice cream.
Mitch stood still and rolled his eyes. Scott had no idea how it actually felt to be rejected. It hurt. A lot. He sighed deeply. He finally turned around and looked straight into Scott's puppy blue eyes. Those just instantly made him melt inside. Damn it. He couldn't resist that cutie with his childish pout any longer and moved closer to him to peck his cheek. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to." He did. Well, not really, but he did. Whatever.
"That's okay, beautiful angel. Enjoy your date." Scott didn't really want him to enjoy it, but he did want to be sweet to Mitch. And that's what sweet people say.
"Yeah, thanks." Mitch uttered. He won't enjoy it very much he guessed. He didn't even want to go on that stupid date.
"But uhm, on second thought, don't have too much fun without me!" Scott joked.
Kind of a weird joke, Mitch thought. I'm going on a date. It's not like I'm going out with friends or anything. Oh well, typical Scott. His frown turned into a smile, but a broken smile. A smile of a person in pain. "Don't worry, I won't, cutest dork on earth." That wasn't even a lie.
Scott's phone rang. Ethan called, an old friend from his one year at university. They used to be roommates.
"Hi, Ethan! How are you? It's been such a long time!"
"Hi Scott! I know, right?! And I'm fine, you?"
"Yeah, me too. What are you calling for?"
"Sorry, I am not bothering you, am I?"
"No, no! Go ahead!"
"Well, I have an embarrassing problem. I have to be in L.A. tomorrow, but apparently I booked the wrong date in the hotel, stupid misunderstanding, and they have no available rooms anymore. I can't find another place to stay, literally everything is fully booked. So umm... I know that you're probably very busy but umm... can I -?"
"-Oh, yes! Sure you can stay at my place! No problem! I'd be great to see you again!"
"Really?! Oh, thank you, Scott! You're my hero!"
