"If you don't have your car, then how did you get here?" Nathan gave the taller boy in front of him wide eyes, staring right through his piercing brown ones.

"I jogged, it's healthy, you know?"

"I guess. Let's just get this over with and find this location. The first one is where?"

"Just three blocks down and then one block to the right. It's apartment 33." Nathan got on his bike, doing the usual motions. Putting the key in, checking everything, and then getting ready to ride. He handed Thomas the extra helmet, and then he slid his on. Thomas got on the back of the bike and sat there, not knowing what was about to happen.

"You're gonna want to hold on."

       "Why?"

"Trust me." Nathan felt Thomas' long fingers stretch around his hips and stomach, sending goosebumps up to his chest. Butterflies began to dance inside Nathan's stomach. He flexed, hoping that his body was good enough to impress the brown haired boy that was now behind him.

Nathan gripped the clutch tight, sending the two speeding down the road, wind rushing past them. A smile grew on Nathan's face as Thomas' grip around his body tightened. Nathan began to shout over the sound of his loud bike.

"So, what's this place like anyway?" Thomas had to think for a moment, but then he yelled an answer back at Nathan.

"It's a worn out apartment building that not too many people would choose to live in. Very unsanitary. Scalder didn't have high standards."

"A doctor who doesn't care about sanitation? Either this guy wasn't a good doctor or he's got something really shady going on."

     "My thoughts exactly."

Nathan parked his motorcycle next to the curb, ceasing the purring engine to a halt. The building was medium height, and made of a dark maroon colored brick. It looked like it was falling a part a little bit, and moss grew on the sides of the building.  The sun began to fall behind the building as the duo got off the bike, setting their helmets on the back of it. Thomas ran his fingers through his auburn hair, and Nathan couldn't help but stare. The two walked into the building, the door squeaking as they entered. A woman sat at a counter, she seemed to be dozing off and she was smacking gum loudly. Her hair was gray and curly, and her face had many wrinkles. Nathan pulled a fake F.B.I. badge from his pocket, that let him get away with nearly anything.

"Johnathan Downer, F.B.I. I'm here to investigate some stuff involving Mr. Scalder, can you show me the room he was previously checked out in?" The lady stared at the badge for a moment, and then at Nathan. It was almost as if her brain was vacant for a couple of minutes, before she nodded her head and got up. Nathan folded the fake badge back into his pocket.

After walking up a thin staircase, the woman stopped at a long hallway with boarded up doors, except for the last door on the left, which was rotten and probably had a family of termites living in it. The lady led them to the door, and then looked up at the two boys.

"Well here you go, make sure to lock the door before you leave." The woman left, and then Thomas opened the old door.

The room was cluttered and messy. It was as if Scalder had to leave and didn't have enough time to clean up, which gave Thomas and Nathan no idea where to start. A small wooden door was located on the left, which surely led to a bathroom. A closet was by the bed, that was covered with various objects, including: a radio, a couple of travel brochures, and a large briefcase.  A multitude of scientific equipment were scattered on a wooden desk. Papers, trash, and many other useless things covered the wooden floor. Thomas walked into the middle of the room, stepping over junk. He lightly pulled on the string, flickering brightness into the dark room.  A clock could be heard ticking, and the boys examined the room for a minute.
