Fred's POV
"I need to find her," I tell James with worry. "I can't lose her."
"So let me get this straight," he says. "You don't know this girl's name or who she is, yet you love her?"
"Yes," I say.
He rolls his eyes. "Then go find her, mate!"
I nod. "I will. I just have to send a letter to my mum first. She's been pestering me to write to her for a while now."
He nods back and I pick up the letter lying on the bedside table and head to the Owlery.

Back to your POV
I climb the rickety staircase to the Owlery, a cloak draped over my shoulders and the hood down. I open the door and approach Hamlet, my tawny owl. I search for some twine and find mine. Placing the letter next to him, I say, "Keep an eye on this. I'll be right back, okay?"
He gives a hoot of agreement and I turn to head up the staircase, not noticing the ginger boy standing in the door frame.

As I approach the Owlery, I notice that the door is already open. I stand in the door frame, spotting a girl talking softly to her owl, then walking away and up the stairs.
A package lays next to the owl and I walk over to inspect it, curious. A white feather sticks out of the parcel and I reach in and pull something out- a mask.
Her mask.
Not more than a minute later, the girl comes bounding down the stairs- and that's when I recognize her.

I quickly find a piece of twine and fist it as I walk down the stairs. When I reach the bottom step, I spot a boy- Fred. He's holding my mask and staring at me like I'm a stranger.
"You're her."
I blink. "I'm sorry, what?"
"The girl in the mask- that was you." His eyes hold mine for a while before I say, "I don't know what you're talking about."
He pushes me against the wall. "Don't act like you don't know what I'm talking about," he says, his hands on my palms, pinning me against the wall. "How did you do it?"
"Do what?" I gasp out.
"Lift the spell," he says.
"What spell?"
"The one you put on me," he says through gritted teeth.
"I didn't put a spell on you, Weasley."
He recoils at the sound of me using his last name. "Liar!" he exclaims, bringing his face so close to mine the tips of our noses are touching. "Lift it now."
I push him off of me. "Listen, Fred, I font know what the hell you're thinking right now, but I didn't put any sort of spell on you. And I'm not the girl in the mask. That was- uh- my cousin's mask."
"Prove it."
"Excuse me?"
"Dance with me. If it really was your cousin, you wouldn't dance like her. So we'll see."
I sigh. You can do this. I put my hand on his shoulder and he puts his on my waist. We twirl across the floor and I desperately try not to dance like I normally would, but I can't. My movements are exactly the same as the day of the ball and my facial expressions aren't doing a very good job of hiding it either. He places me in a sudden dip and I gasp in surprise, gripping on to his shoulder tightly.
He pulls me up. "So you're her, then," he says, both of his hands on my waist to steady me. "I never hated you, you know that, right?" He asks, pulling me close to him.
I sigh as he twirls me around. "I always thought you did."
"What do I need to do to prove it to you?"He asks, dipping me again and holding me there.
The corners of his lips suddenly curl up and in an instant, his mouth is on mine, his lips moving rhythmically against mine. "Merlin," he whispers in between kisses, "I love you."
"My name's not Merlin," I say, grinning, "but I love you too."
"Shut up," he says, kissing me again and again and again.
