Charlie's pov
I go to the kitchens as my first destination because as you can imagine 3 days of no eating and talking to no one but demons when you wake up for an entire day is quite hungering.
Demons don't have need for food like humans. So their food is purely designed for tasting purposes only. This is a plus for me so I know that the food is going to be good.
I arrive at the kitchen and see a table set for two and I sit down and before I have a chance to wonder about what I want to eat a demon brings out two trays.
One is sat in front of me and the other across the table in front of the second chair.
I waste no time with curiosity as I quickly remove the covering of the silver platter to see if the demons are as good at cooking as the books claim.
I'm shocked to see that when I remove the covering that there is only a bowl of goop on the platter next to a single glass of water.
So much for great cooking.
I use the spoon on the table and cautiously try the goop. It's like heaven on a spoon and I immediately take a bigger scoop and begin to scarf down the remainder of the bowl.
That's when I hear that sound. That God awful whistle. That bone chilling breeze. I knew who it was immediately.
"You know I go through the trouble of having the chef prepare a fine meal for the two of us and you've gone and started eating without me?" Came the silky voice that I recognized all to well.
"I never learned your name queen." I say wondering what name I should place on the face I'm about to turn around and see.
"I am known by many names. Some are in a language known not to you. I am known as the bright darkness. I am known as the queen of evil. I am known as the mother of night. But you may know me as Statia." She replied warming me up more than the wonderful goop with her voice.
I turned around and my jaw dropped immediately.
I'd never seen such beauty. I'd never been so awestruck in my entire life.
She was absolutely gorgeous. She stood about 5'6 compared to my 6'1. She had fluctuating black hair that completely complimented her entrancing brown eyes. Her body was curvaceous even among vampires she was scaringly beautiful.
She smiled and said "you can stop staring now."
I was snatched back into reality in an instant. I was somewhat dazed by her. "Sorry" I apoligize.
This earns a laugh." You are not to blame and I should not tell you to stop seeing as we're going to be married soon." She smirked evily.
I'm not dazed anymore. I'm filled with an annoyance that is unbecoming of myself.
"Why did you lie to the king" I asked coldly.
She smiled even more wickidly wich seemed to somehow make her more attractive.
"Did I lie Charlie? Would you really have refused me that night in the hallway? Would you have rather taken your chances with the traps that lay hidden in the darkness had you decided to try and run from me? I think not. As your reward I will make you king of all you see and I will be there to guide you in every matter." She seems very smug in her theory.
But I know better and I'll be damned if I let a demon beat me at my own game. I grit my teeth and say firmly "It matter not what I would have done it matters that you set me up for a battle I'm not sure I can win. You have doomed me. I can't remember who I used to be before coming here all I know is from the memories that were burned into my mind from the books I read. I feel as though I'm missing something and I feel as though it's close." I end the argument in a more broken and thoughtful style than I'd started in.
"Ah I see. A hero isn't anything if not useless without his weapon. And I believe this one is yours." She snaps her fingers and in floats a red sword sheath with runes and carvings on it in a long forgotten language. She picks the sword or of the air and unsheaths it. "This blade runs thick with the blood of my kin. You have given it a feared name. Demons everywhere know this blade and it's weilder. Take you sword and let your legacy be known to you." She hands me the sword.
My fingers close around the hilt and I start to feel electrical tingles travel up my arm and throughout my body. Immediately I begin to remember. I remember the night the demons came to my house. I remember the fulfillment of my vengeance. I remember when John came to me. I remember forming the creed. I remembered the ambush and how I'd fallen in battle to a very cheap move from Keiro. I remember him taking my sword and the flash of red light and everything else that's happened since. I remember all my battle training.
I remember it all! I feel invincible!
I turn to Statia all anger had subsided. "Thank you. You have given me a gift I can't repay."
"Repay your debt by acknowledging me as your wife and queen. Accept the heritage of my families powers. And end The Creed." She replies.
I hesitate.
"I cannot my queen. Even if I wanted to The Creed has assumed that I'm dead already or if they haven't then they won't come for me. They'll have already elected another leader and if I'm right it'll be John."
I strap the sheath to my back where it used to be. I sheath the sword. And turn to the queen. "I purpose a counter offer. I will lead the Creed on a different route when it comes to vampires. I will leave them in John's care. I will not give up slaying demons for they are evil. I will be strict on vampire feeding rules too. No more killing humans when you feed." I said.
She contemplated this and nodded her head "some of tat can be renegotiated later but you need to train I imagine your rusty." She says.
I nod and say "first I'll rest and then tomorrow we can train it is late now and you've given me a lot to think about it."
She sighs and then approaches me. And does the unthinkable.
She kisses me on the lips!
I feel butterflies lift my stomach. I feel as though I could sit there forever and enjoy her touch.
She starts to deepen the kiss. I find myself kissing her back as she brings her body into mine. She wraps her arms around me and a small moan escapes her lips.
I'm about to show her what kind of lust she was playing with when she suddenly breaks contact. Smiling her very attractive smile.
"Remember that hero. No one has shown themselves worthy of my hand. Not even Keiro. I was forced to marry him but I would willingly marry you if you rid ke of his burden. Now go Charles for I must rest too." And with that she gracefully and silently leaves the room. Leaving me dumbstruck and wondering how I'm going to explain to The Creed why I can't comeback.
That night I didn't get much sleep...
