Everything had gone from bad to worse, the duels that had taken place in the last 24 hours shaking Evangeline to the core, making her realise that this was no longer a tournament. First, Bakura had fallen and remained bed bound and unconscious...then the man who had posed as Marik was struck by lightning, the real Marik exposed and revealing another side to him...a side that wanted to kill Yugi and control the world with shadows. Seto had won his duel, of course, though only by the skin of his teeth. And the worst part was that this new Marik had dueled the spirit of the Millenium Ring in a Shadow Game, sending him to the Shadow Realm. For Evangeline and the others, it rung a hard truth that this man was dangerous and cruel. What frightened Evangeline the most of it all was how much he enjoyed hurting others, claiming their souls and leaving them in an empty shell of a body. And yet despite everyone who had been hurt, Kaiba continued the Tournament.
Given the how dangerous it had all gotten, she hadn't felt comfortable in sleeping alone and as such decided to sleep in Mais room along with Serenity and Téa while the boys - excluding Yugi - all slept in Joeys room. Had she not been so exhausted, she doubted she would have fallen asleep as quickly as she had. But that slumber didn't last for long as a load rumbling sound filled the entire Ship.
"What was that? What happened!?" Téa exclaimed, standing up immediately and looking around worriedly, Serenity joining her concern as she flinched at the sound.
Waking up immediately, Evangeline went over to the window to look outside, seeing that it hadn't quite hit dawn yet. Though the ship seemed to be changing its course abruptly, earning a frown on her face.
"Let's find the others and ask Kaiba what's going on!"
Meeting up with the others, the gang of friends made their way to the control room of the ship, sure that Kaiba would be there already to see what the problem was. No sooner did the arrive did another rumble fill their ears, Yugi speaking up over the noise.
"Kaiba, what's going on?" He called out but didn't get his answer as the ship swang to and fro in a sickening way that had Eva close her eyes to compose herself.
"What are you doing!?" Seto shouted to his henchman who appeared to be trying to control the ship.
"It isn't me, Mr Kaiba. I can't get the ship out of auto-pilot and Alcatraz Islands computer is refusing me access also! There's no signal from the tower!"
"What is that Island, why are we heading there?" Tristen asked, everyones eyes looked to the island in question.
"That is our destination, Kaiba Crop Island was initially a military base and then turned into a maximum security prison created by Gozaburo Kaiba." Kaiba explained, briefly and to the point.
"Looks deserted to me." Tristen noted, its run down state obvious to the naked eye.
"Our foster father tried to conquer the world by building up a great military industry, selling his weapons to the highest bidder. That artificial island is the relic of his dream. After he died, Seto destroyed all the military factories on the island and changed Kaiba Corp into a gaming industry, building a duel tower in its place-"
"Mokuba, enough!" Seto snapped, Evangeline blinking a little at the story while looking to him in thought.
There was a hatred for his adoptive father, that much could be seen in his eyes as he glared through the windows at the Island. The more she thought on it, the more likely it seemed he built that tower to symbolise how he triumphed over his step father...though what happened was anyones guess, something that she wished she knew. Not because she was nosey but because she wanted to know what made him the man he was today. The confliction she saw in his eyes sometimes, such as when she used to be tender with him...was it because of this Gozaburo?
