-Rey's POV-
I couldn't sleep. How did anyone expect me to anyways? I was being held on a first order ship, forced to stay in the same room as my enemy. How did a monster like him live with himself after killing his own father. I ground my teeth and finally sat up. I felt like trying to escape again would just land me in a windowless, doorless cell. So I sat with my head between my hands.
The room was shrouded in a blanket of total darkness; the only light that shone through was coming from under Kylo's sliding door. Without really thinking I stood up and made my way over to his door. I slid it open ever so slightly; enough for me to see in with one eye. He appeared to be fast asleep. Nestled with a pillow on his left side, covered in blankets. I continued to slide the door open. Now would be the time to get some answers and maybe take a longer peek inside his mind. He rustled under the sheets and I froze. He turned to lay on his back the sheets had fallen enough to show that he wasn't wearing a shirt. Once his breathing turned back to a more deep rhythm I continued to open the door just until it was enough for me to slide in.
His room was a fair size. Behind him was a small window peering out into deep space, some light shown in from a "nearby" star. I approached the left side of his bed and looked over him. He looked peaceful. All traces of frustration or contempt were erased off his facial expression. His jaw muscles were relaxed and his lips were slightly parted. I took a breath and held my hand up to his head.
I began to probe his mind but I had to be careful so he wouldn't notice and wake up. The first thing I saw was a replaying image of a melted helmet, it appeared to be Darth Vaders but I was not sure. I dug deeper and found the scene of him killing Han. I watched it trying not to cry. When Han reached up and touched Kylo's face it rippled into another vision of Kylo sitting with his head in his hands. I could sense the sadness, no, despair. Most of all frustration. At himself. Self hatred was consuming him. Then it all faded and in the distance appeared a still type photograph. It came into focus and I felt my brows furrow with curiosity, confusion, and disbelief. My name echoed throughout his head, and before I knew it he had awoken, grabbed me, thrown me over him, unsheathed his saber and held it to my neck.
-Kylo's POV-
I loomed over the girl, who lay defenseless underneath me my red saber illuminating her face in the darkness. My heart was pounding in my chest and I took a deep breath.
"What are you doing in here scavenger?" I blew some hair away from my face.
"You did force me to sleep in your quarters." she said raising an eyebrow.
I climbed off of her and went to put on a shirt, "I guess growing up without a family leaves you lacking manners." Suddenly she was behind me swinging her palm towards my face but I grabbed her wrist, and threw it down. However she was quick and used her other hand to give me a quick punch right to the jaw. I rubbed it and cleared my throat, stepping closer to her. As to assert my dominance. "I apologize for that uncalled for remark," I admit, "however when a door is closed that usually means that you shouldn't enter without permission."
"Well binding a person to a chair and forcibly extracting information from their head shouldn't be done without permission." She crossed her arms and stared at me.
"You have a point." I clench my fist but try to remain calm, "however it was all for the betterment of the galaxy, and you. Even though you don't realize it yet."
She raised up on her toes and stared at me intensely, "I. Will. Never. Join. You." She enunciated every word pivoting to make her way back to the couch.
I stood there for a moment unsure of what to say next. Nothing would get through to this girl, not even hospitality. But something bothered me even more. When I woke up I had felt her inside my mind. What had she seen?
"What did you see?" I mumbled without really realizing.
She bundled up under the blankets and turned away from where I was standing. Obviously not going to say a word. So I turned and made my way back into my room, but this time when I lay down I couldn't sleep. For fear of her finding something out that she, not anyone, should know.
-Rey's POV-
I could t sleep. Still. I kept replaying over and over what I had seen in Kylo's mind. All of it seemed so... unlike him. Although one thing specifically piqued my curiosity and stood out to me... at the end of his vision before I was attacked. The still photo like vision was of me.
