To Lose and Search

Long before I ever knew you at all,
There was a part of me that I was not
Aware I missed; and when you did befall
Me, you kindled chaos in my life's plot.
When I first felt that pang of emptiness
Where my throbbing, beating heart should have been,
I, the meticulously-painted mess,
Fathomed that you had committed a sin;
You had left me in parts and some with you,
For never had I even once been whole.
I reminded myself that it was true;
I missed you before I had known your soul.
Though to you I was but a broken a part,
I lost my mind while searching for my heart.
