Poem By May Hapenga
God's People
When we allow the devil to make us his slave
The things of this world-he’ll make us to crave
All we want is riches, power and fame
Why do we shout satan and not Jesus’ name?
We’re Perfect Christians, to others we profess
When deep inside, we’re too ashamed to come to God and confess
The lips, at church we sing hymns and praise God with
Are the same lips, for six days that come out with filth
Our bible gathers dust -It’s just too boring to read
But instead profanity from magazines, our minds we feed
If we fill our ears with, Rihanna, Jay z, etcetera, -just fill in the space
How can we possibly hear, God whispering loving words of Grace?
Jesus offers safety and everlasting life
But onto ourselves-we bring woe and strife
And when all solutions to our problems have been tried and failed
Only then is our affection, to our Master hurled
That’s when we decide to close our eyes and pray
When we should be kneeling, talking to God everyday
If this how our loving Saviour, we rudely treat
Then we’re just as bad as those who pierced his feet
We are not showing Characters of Christ’s disciples
In God’s vineyard we stand- our minds rotting apples
Now we stand naked- unmasked by wickedness and pride
Like Adam, we stand before God- with nowhere to hide
Against God we commit every possible crime
But being a loving parent- he forgives us each time
But the most amazing thing is –despite all we’ve done
Despite our inadequacies- He still gave us his Son
My friends we need to repent before it’s too late
When those trumpets sound, God will judge us and seal our fate
The end is in sight, prophecies in the bible are becoming true
Who ever is saying, this world’s not ending, then woe betide you
Nations are rising against nations, Kingdom against kingdom
We’re using our judgment and not seeking God’s wisdom
There are already famines and earthquakes-just the beginning of our sorrows
There’s more yet to come- In this world lacking morals
But we know in these last days, Christians will be persecuted
True followers of Christ, beaten, bruised and executed
But those who stick with God, will be on the winning side
Victory was already won on Calvary, when Jesus died
Many shall forsake God, and will receive punishment deserved,
“But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved’’
