We'd act in every way
that our minds could portray.
Till day turned to night
and took our energy away.
Then when dinner came
we'd fill our bellies'
and ensure our hunger,
was no longer swelling.
When the soft light was switched off every night,
she would come and kiss us on the cheek;
and make sure the monster wouldn't peek.
As night was still and you
couldn't hear a sound,
we'd use our imagination to take us
some place profound.
The air was cool so we sailed our ships.
As we meant land, we jumped
In water to take a dip.
All was well,
good and fun.
Till something moved in the dark,
and rattled the trees still bark.
In alert the forest shook.
Out came enemies who had greed in their eyes,
so our riches they took.
You, me, and our crew
began to stir and our
swords we drew.
With all our might we began to fight.
To prove that we were in the right!
Time passed on oh so fast
and you my brother spoke at last:
"We have to leave before day comes."
"I know, I know we must go, but I have to continue
to fight for our pride!"
"Soon my brother, in the next night.
Now we must return to mother before it turns light."
You and I boarded our ship once again.
With that I said to my friends:
"We will come to defend what is ours again!
So just you wait always until night's end."
The journey was over so we returned
to our beds, and day claimed our wandering heads.
The door opened very slightly and she approached
quite lightly.
"Its time to wake" She spoke ever so softly,
and I arose from my bed sleepish and groggy.
"I've got milk and toffee just for you and you re brother too.
Now do hurry the day is to start soon."
Tired as can be, but filled with glee.
We hurried away to start the day.
Knowing we would return soon to play.
