"Daddy, papa, I has something important to talk to you about." Mary walks into the bedroom, trailing a wagon full of various stuffed animals behind her. Cas and Dean look over at her from their spots on the bed. Cas looking up from the papers he was grading and Dean from the notebook of video ideas.
"Hop on up," Cas pats the empty spot between between Dean and him then sets the pile of papers aside. Dean tosses his notebook to the floor, giving their daughter their full attention as she settles between them, Moosey clasped in her arms.
"What do you want to talk to us about, sweetheart?" Dean asks, sharing a look with Cas.
"I want a sister." She looks up at both of them.
"What?" Cas looks at her in surprise.
"I want a sissy." Mary states simply. "You and dad are busy so you can't always play, and I can't play with Alex except on weekends or at school. If I had a sister I could play with her all the time." Mary states. They figured something like this was going to happen soon. She had been asking a lot about what it was like to have a sibling. And with her being six and always wanting to play, Dean and Cas can't exactly give her all the attention she wants.
"Sweetie, we can't exactly just get you a new sister." Dean says softly.
"Lilith's mommies got a baby, why can't you?" Mary asks. Lilith is a girl in her class.
"Because boys can't have babies, we have to get a baby from a place that takes care of kids without mommies and daddies." Dean explains.
"Then let's go there and get one." Mary huffs.
"It's not exactly like that." Cas shakes his head.
"Well I want a sister, please." Mary puckers out her bottom lip and looks at them.
"Me and Papa will talk about it, now go play, I think Puffy and his friends are feeling lonely." Dean looks over at the stuffed squirrel and other toys in the wagon.
"Okay!" Mary beams, kissing first Dean's then Cas' cheeks before scrambling off the bed. She grabs her wagon and runs out of the room.
"Another kid..." Dean sighs.
"It would be nice." Cas smiles softly.
"You think so?" Dean glances over at him.
"Yeah, Mary has gotten so independent this past year, thinking she can do everything by herself. I crave that feeling of caring for a child." Cas sighs.
"Six year olds, think they know everything." Dean huffs.
"Wait another ten years, she'll be even worse." Cas laughs, but then he quickly becomes serious. "I do want another kid."
"Me too," Dean leans his head back against the headboard. "Maybe for this next one you'll be the favorite parent." Dean cracks a smile, looking over at his husband.
"You're only Mary's favorite because you say yes nearly everytime I say no. You spoil her too much." Cas rolls his eyes with a smile.
"I don't know how you could say no when she gives those puppy dog eyes. I swear she learned that trick from Sammy." Dean chuckles.
"I say no because I'm being the responsible parent." Cas rolls his eyes.
"I'm responsible." Dean scoffs.
"Candy before bed? Soda during breakfast? Letting her climb the tree in the back yard?" Cas names off a few things.
"Okay, one, she hadn't brushed her teeth yet, so I let her have a piece of candy and right after she brushed her teeth. Two, I promised her root beer floats for breakfast because we had a deal, in which I'm not allowed to disclose. And three, I was standing near the tree, and she didn't climb very high." Dean defends with a smug smile.
