Chapter 2~ Danielle
Dad had been giving me hell again this morning. This time he was trying to tell me that I should stay home because the attacks were serious and getting closer by the hour. I don't even know what truly is happening but I just had to get away from my family. That's really why I was at school early.
But I started second guessing my choice as soon as I heard the screams. At first it was just one but then multiple voice coursed together to form a terrifying, shrill scream. The sound alone made me feel uneasy and I knew something was wrong. It seems like my dad was right about something for once.
Mr.Halinski was the first to make it to the window. I stood, frozen by the sounds from the streets, but the Ryder kid jumped out of his seat to join Mr.Halinski. Almost as soon as Ryder made it to the window, his face fell and his dark brown eyes widened in terror. I didn't know such a look existed outside of horror movies.
AJ and Joy then began making there ways to the window but Mr.Halinski put out a hand to stop them. "No. We need to go into the closet."
"Your supply closet?" Joy asked confused. I looked around for a supply closet and was greeted by the sight of a metal door. What kind of supply closet was that?
"It's not exactly a supply closet." The teacher mumbled as he began corralling us to the door. I wasn't really surprised it wasn't a supply closet. It looked more like a walk in refrigerator. Or maybe one of those places they out dead bodies.
Mr.Halinski unlocked the door and pulled it open, revealing a room that was about 7 feet by 8 feet. In a corner was a table and along the wall was a shelf with canned foods.
A conversation came back to me that I had yesterday with one if the students, Kyle. He had told me that Mr.Halinsku was just short of being crazy and that the teacher was expecting a alien invasion to happen. Of course I hadn't believed Kyle at the time, I though it was just some stupid rumor going around, but now what Kyle had said was pretty believable.
Soon Mr.Halinski had all of us in the room and I was really second guessing my choice of coming in to school early. Mr.Halinski bolted the door shut in three different places before turning to us. It was almost completely dark besides the glow of AJ's phone. Luckily, Mr.Halinski had a random light bulb hanging for the curling and he pulled a little chain to turn it on. Soon the room was illuminated enough where we could see each others faces again.
"Okay what is happening?" AJ finally said, asking the question we all had been dying to get an answer for. But I don't know how Mr.Halinski would have the answer.
"This isn't a supply closet? That's why I've never been aloud in here?" Joy asked, apparently not aware of the bigger problems at hand.
My eyes strayed over to Ryder who looked like he had absolutely no intentions of talking. That kid had always looked like he wanted to speak but right now he was completely silent.
"What did you see?" I found myself asking Ryder. The boy only looked up at me with wide eyes and blinked.
Ryder didn't answer but Mr.Halinski spoke up for him. "This is hard to explain but we are kind of under attack."
"Like terrorists?" Joy asked. That made sense since we lived in DC which was a major target do terrorists.
But Mr.Halinski shook his head. "No, this is something bigger then that. Bigger then something you might ever imagine possible."
"What are you saying?" I asked.
"The aliens, they have finally been completed." Mr.Halinski muttered.
