I'm speechless & just in awe. He's here? How? It's him. I still can't believe it's him. Why is he here? Was he following me? It's Ben. "Ma'am? Are you okay?" "Yeah I'm okay." Do I look okay?! Ben was just standing there & eyeballing me. "Can you give us a moment?" "Sure." The officers stood aside to help the other registration booth.
He reached for my arms & grabbed me & hugged me. "I know you probably didn't want to see me." What was your first clue? "When you left, I saw something in the sky. Then there was green. I remembered grabbing my phone & tracking your location."
He did that? "Then I hurried to you, but the car I got was stolen & when I got almost halfway, a weird thing jumped on the car & smashed the engine." I... I kept starring at him. I slowly grew closer & tried to yell at him in my mind, to see if I could get a tear come out. "I'm so sorry. Michelle?" I looked into his beautiful blue eyes & turned my head down. I was trying so hard not to cry or anything.
"Michelle?" "Yeah..." "I'm so glad we're both still alive." I... I'm so... happy... He's a-alive... I still couldn't get over the fact he- WE magically came back together. It's like a holding a rubber band, eventually, we're gonna have to let go & snap back next to each other. Well that's probably not how it is.
"Here I'll show your room." Ben said. ... I have no words to explain this encounter & yet, we found love in the invasion again. It's like when something bad happens, we try to find each other & are happy to see each other. "Michelle, we have to talk."
"Lets go to the room first. Then we'll talk." I said. "Okay." He replied. We went through many corridors & dozens of rooms. Every time we passed one, Ben would say not yet. I already became tired & about halfway, we finally get to the room I was given to. "I'm sorry, can we talk later? I'm super tired & I just wanna sleep." I said. He didn't like the sound of that, he wanted to get whatever it was in his mind out & I really needed to sleep.
"Sure." He walked out & sighed. Great. When I woke up, Ben was by my bed. "Morning sleeping beauty." He said. "Ugh... how long have I've been asleep?" "A couple of days." WHAT? "We had several encounters with a few AMW's & ships. The National Coast Guard came to us if they needed help & we said that we needed supplies because we were running low. So now we're overstocked."
Wow... I got up & sat next to him. I leaned my head onto his shoulder & said, "Sorry for leaving." He looked at me & put his right arm on my right side & rubbed my arm. "It's okay." I was thinking what he said about MAW's. "Hey, what's a MAW?" "Mutant Alien Worms." Huh... The place was eerily quiet.
We walked out from the room & there was nobody in bed & it was just dead quiet. "Where'd everybody go?" I asked. "They all went to Baton Rogue to get the other survivors. I told them I'd stay with you if we did inventory check." He replied. "Oh okay."
We went into the hangar & nobody was there. "Hello!" I said. It echoed & for some reason, I was amazed by that. Sometimes the little things are wonderful & catch me off guard. "The storage is over here." Ben said. We walked to the very back of the hangar and it felt like I walked the Tour De France.
When we got there, we turned on the lights & there was boxes & crates & cans of food, huge cans. We walked over to get the clipboard with all the items accounted for. "You do half & I'll do the over half." "Okay." I replied. I went over to check off the cans of food & some crates. Ben got the boxes and mostly all the crates. It didn't matter. He's alive.
When I got to the bottom of the checklist, I saw a few cans move & fall over. "Hello?" The storage facility was enormous. It was like about half a mile. So Ben couldn't hear me. The cans started to rattle even more. "Hello? Anyone back there?"
The cans were now being thrown, followed by a snarling sound.
