"Martijn, here's Angel and Kelly. Kelly and An-"

"Yeah we know"

Glaring at Martin, Kelly has crossed her arms and rests her head on the door frame, disinterested. On the other hand, Angel cracks a weak smile at him and gives her hand awkwardly. He just remains silent and gives his hand back to Angel. I'm confused. Martin would have insulted her using the nastiest words by now. Maybe he's doing it because she's my friend? I have no idea. It's the first time I see Kelly behaving like that and I don't want him to believe that she's a bitch, because she actually isn't.

Kelly goes back into her house and we do the same. I watch as Martin sits on the couch awkwardly with me, looking dazed. Kelly and Angel head upstairs, leaving us alone for a while.

"What's wrong?" I decide to ask, completely confused.

"I- uh. I don't know why your friend doesn't like me. That's all" he mutters.

"Oh, she's been like that lately. That has nothing to do with you. I swear she is a good person" I state. He shrugs and slides his hand in his pocket afterwards to grab a cigarette and a lighter.

"No smoking here"

We both wince at Kelly's loud voice. She gives him a cold glare as she places a cup of coffee on the table. Angel sits on the other couch silently. I glance at Martin who is staring down his feet, putting his cigarette back in the pocket.

"Angel can I talk to you for a sec" I ask, interrupting the awkward silence. She nods and we both head towards the kitchen.

"What the fuck is going on?"

I'm now furious, but mostly confused. Something is happening and it feels like nobody is telling me.

Angel just shrugs lightly, looking upset.

"Oh, okay" I reply sarcastically. "Now tell me the truth"

She finally looks at me in the eye, sympathetically, yet sad. That tells me something is really, really wrong and I have to find out immediately. Furiosity and confusion are growing inside my body, making my blood boil. I storm off from the kitchen to the living room. I notice Martin in the same position he was when I left the room. Kelly still has the bitchy expression on her face and she's flipping through a magazine.

"Anything you've got to tell me?" I snap at both of them, but I glance directly at her.

She lifts her head up to meet my eyes. Her angry expression changes to one that is full of concern and regret.

"No?" she mumbles and I sigh heavily.

"What's fucking wrong with you these days?" I hiss. As I didn't get an answer, I shoot a glance at Martin who stands up and heads towards the door to leave. I go after him quickly but he walks faster on the street.

"Martin" I call him.

No answer.

"Martin!" I shout. He stops eventually and turns around slowly to face me.

"I'm sorry" he mumbles.

"What for?"

"..I don't know" he replies, avoiding to make eye contact with me again.

I sigh frustratingly and run a hand through my hair nervously.

"You don't have the balls to tell me, right?" I speak again, more quietly this time as I get closer to him slowly. He still avoids to look at me.
"Tell me, did I do something wrong?"

He finally decides to look up at me, panicked.

"No, of course not" he shakes his head quickly

"Then?" I ask, trying to hold back my tears.
