*Martin's POV*
I drop the phone immediately as I heard the woman's words.
"..it's serious"
Within seconds, I have put my shoes on, a random shirt and I get out of the house. My brain has frozen. I can't think. The only active thing on my brain is an order. An order to get there. If she's not okay, I am not okay either. I've received multiple insults from other car drivers as I'm passing the red lights and run like crazy. But like I said, there's nothing I care about right now but her.
Entering the hospital doors, I ask the first nurse for the room she's in. After I get the number, I run upstairs.
"Are you a relative or a close friend?"
I turn around to see a doctor, who might be at his mid 30s. The look on his face tells me that something is serious.
"Her boyfriend" I reply, looking into the room for her.
My eyes immediately meet her body. Shocked, I take one step towards there but the doctor stops me.
"Sorry it's not time for you to visit. Visitors are allowed from 8 am to 9 pm" he said, giving me a sympathetic look.
You better shove that visitors allowance up there where the sun doesn't shine.
"Is it serious? What happened?" I ask after a deep sigh, refusing to insult him.
"I know as much as you know about the accident. The car driver must have been drunk. Now, we're doing our best to wake her up" he answers, breaking our eye contact during the last part, which makes my heart break into pieces.
"Okay.. I'll just wait here until I can get in" I announce and he nods.
I sit on a chair next to the room. Watching as doctors kept getting in and out, I grab my phone to text her parents and friends. Actually, her parents and Angel.
No more than thirty minutes pass, and I can see Emily's parents being in a rush to see their daughter's situation. I can see the worry in their look clearly and suddenly guilt fills my insides.
"What happened? How is she?"
"Were you with her? How long is she here?"
The couple starts bombing me with questions. The terror in their eyes is crystal clear.
"She was turning home late at night, just a few hours ago, and suddenly a drunk man hit her. I wasn't with her" I take a deep sigh before the next sentence, "The doctor said they'll do their best to wake her up. She's in a coma"
I watch as Mrs. Evans' eyes tear up slowly and her husband wraps an arm around her waist. With my guilt growing, my gaze falls, on the floor, avoiding eye contact.
An hour later, Angel comes. She only speaks to Emily's parents and asks questions. All she did is wave at me and ignore me the rest of the time. Maybe that's because she knows. And it hurts to think that Emily knows too. That can't happen, she won't take it. If she knew, her little fragile body would collapse.
I'm such an idiot."Martin can I talk to you for a sec?" Angel suddenly gets me out of my thoughts, giving me a serious look. All I do is nod, and walk a few steps away.
"Kelly told her" she whispers.
Oh, no. No, no, no..
"Around 2 am, Kelly told Emily to go to her place. She told her everything. I think she even slapped her" she says, and I motivate her to keep going.
"I think that's why Emily is where she is right now. From her shock"
Didn't know how to feel. Angry towards that bitch or angry at myself for these mistakes? I clench my jaw hard and look down. I didn't know what to say. With a quick move, I move my fist as hard as I can towards the wall, creating a hole. I'm breathing heavily.
