Chapter 39: Ino's Bloody Valentine (Part 1)

"Not there! I said a little to the left, you brain-dead morons!" Ino screamed at her two co-staffs, Shino and Lee.

Haruno Sakura shook her head seeing with all the village's gesture early in the morning.

As she passed the busy streets, she couldn't help but savor the sweet, ambrosing smell of Cherry Blossom petals, raining down at her. Some, even the genins were selling "love" by the corner, girls giggling and huddling for their best friends, even Kiba, who became a victim of Ino's whiny little minions, was hired to give a quick peck on the cheek in exchange for 20 ryo. The fact that this was only raised for the much awaited 'Lantern Festival' monetary funds barely made it okay.

The Cherry Blossom knew what she was in for when she walked through the doors of the Leaf Hospital and was quickly overwhelmed by a nauseous, fragrant flower aroma—the kind you could only smell in a five-star hotel or funeral home.

"Valentine's day," she sighed, partly from relief, partly from dread optimism.

"Need a lift?" Someone asked. Her hands were stuffed with a pack of balloons Ino came up with a list she's supposed to bring.

"Thank—wait, Sasuke?"

He gave her a quick peck on the lips. "Happy Valentine's day, baby."

*FLASHBACK<3*

*Last night*

Sakura couldn't sleep. She was suffering mental sluggishness despite how cozy she dressed herself into, Sasuke's plain gray clothing with a zipper and her pink undies. She would often switch position besides fluffing her pillow, then moving into the other side. When she turned, Sasuke laid next to her with his arms folded. "Nice PJ's."

She screamed and threw a pillow at him. "Sasuke! I'm on my panties!"

The raven sighed and shot her a look that said a million times at once, saying 'Just like I thought.'

"You do realize it's the middle of the night, don't you?"

"Just came to check on you." His voice came out unevenly-he was standing very close to her, close enough that she could feel the warmth of him, smell the faint burned scent of his curse-mark. "That dobe is back in town."

The pinkette gasped. "N-naruto?? But—" She froze in profounding remembrance—the fact that Sasuke being here in the village would kill him if he finds out. "That's impossible," she muttered. "He must've used a clone before he left."

The onyx-eyed ebony had turned quite belligerent for some reason. He couldn't help but notice the glimmer on Sakura's eyes, her mouth partly open, she felt—joy? Gladness? He'd seen this becore, back when she used to blush and chortle in admiration, it was annoying.'"That's great! I mean, it's good to have him back.. You and me, Kakashi-sensei, Naruto, we could go eat Ramen together! Don't you think..."

Sasuke's hands clench into fists. From the start the Uchiha had despised him, 'detested' him from becoming reasonably annoying and disturbing, as if he didn't want him around. Naruto, even. He blamed Sasuke several years ago from having stolen his popularity and fame, perhaps, atleast the blonde thought he should be the one to deserve his place. Now, Uchiha Sasuke, having nothing left Naruto would have taken interest in his offense, thought that the infamous Leaf hero could easily snatch away his precious Cherry Blossom. I've always been in there for her when you never were. His devil conscience keeps on hearing Naruto's voice, tormenting him, Sasuke tried so hard to refrain it but it was true. There's this slightest chance that Sakura might fall in the hands of his 'old friend', because he knew that deep down she cared for him.. A lot. And when you started caring for someone, that leaves into falling in love unconditionally.
