Chapter 11: Stay

I look up at the ceiling thinking about what I did the day prior, at the same time I doubt that anything happened besides a light show. The missile looked quite big, if that hit above an underground bunker that would probably still go crashing through the cement walls. I got up, not waking up Roxanne and went tithe 'kitchen' I went to the fridge and grabbed a water bottle and sat down on the couch. I popped it open and chugged away. I then heard flushing from the bathroom, the door opened and Paul walked out with a smile to see me he said:

"What are you doing awake so early in the morning?"

I looked at him and smiled.

"I was just about to ask the same question. I woke up to a bad dream and I came to get a drink. Why are you awake?"

We both chuckled. He cleared his trout and talked:

"The lady was on her period and she asked to be left alone so I came out and read a new book that I've never heard of before."

We talked and laughed for about an hour until Roxanne came out.

"Hay you two, your laughing woke me up." Roxane said

Paul and I started laughing again; Roxanne put on a smile and went back to her room

"Don't wake me up again or else!"

She closed the door and went back to sleep Paul and I looked at each other and started to crack up again. I looked at my watch and said:

"Oh shoot, its five forty ARE!!! We've been talking for about an hour now!!! Tonight we better go to sleep early, tomorrow we can do this again."

We both put on a smile. I went outside to go on a little walk around the upper level of the base. Went I was outside I finally noted that there was a radio tower, there was a blinking red light on the peek. That meant that it was broadcasting a signal. I ran over to the communication center. I got inside and sat myself down and put the headphones on. There was a broadcast coming from a place near Vancouver!!!! That must be our base!!! I sent back a signal and requested to talk together.

"Hello? Is anyone there?" I asked

"Mason!?!?!? Is that you!!!" jack said on the other line.

"Yep, how's everything over there?" I asked hoping that he'll talk about the light show.

"I got a story, listen to this: I took the team back to the Vancouver military base and there were still some people, we let most of them live. I went to the bunker and what do I hear from the surface? A missile goes off!!! It killed all of the team but me; we lost a lot of food, water and supplies. If I find that asshole who did that. Trust me; it would be the end of their story!!!" jack

"Trust me jack, if I find that that asshole he'll be six feet under!" (Lie)

"I know right mason! So how's mitch?" jack said.

"He's gone, not dead! He just decided to stay in Delta and not come with us..." I was sad that he couldn't be here with us. I bet he would like it! I missed him; he was the first guy I could actually trust!

"Oh... I hope he's okay..." jack said depressed

"Well I have to go, say close to the radio, and talk to you later!

I went back to the kitchen to tell everyone the conversation that I had with jack. They were all happy that he was okay. It was now fourteen past six PM, I decided to cook dinner. It was great that we could actually cook! I made my special chili, everyone loved it (in the real world I have a special chili recipe) after dinner, Paul and I went to bed before everyone else just like we said this morning. I was fast asleep, then I had a dream, it didn't wake me up, I enjoyed it...

(The dream)

(Past)

"Jake!!! Come on! We need to get to the Heli ASAP!!!" I yelled as Jake shot the raiders that were standing in front of us. Jake nodded as he threw a grenade in the middle of the group of people. I grabbed the Kris Vector that was located in the back of the truck.

"Cover me!!!" I yelled as I jumped over the barricade. Jake laid cover fire while I ran into the group of raiders. I use every piece of ammo I had on me. I then took out my 1911 and shot the leaders head twice. The one Othe raider the Grabs mye veste colla.

"Get off of me!!!" I yell in frustration. He then puts a gun up to my head. He was the last raider so Jake just looked at him then back to me. He putts hais gun down and raies hais hands.

"Let him go and we'll let you go" Jake said calmly as he slowly grabbed his pen gun that was loaded with two 22. Long rounds. The raider doesn't let me go so Jake quickly uses the two rounds and gets the guy right in the neck. My heart was pounding because he wasn't dead, the 22. Only made him fall on the ground, he was still focused. I grabbed my 1911 and shot him in the knee cap. He screamed in pain and I did so once more. I got up and thanked Jake. We then made it to the Heli...

(End of dream)

I woke up at five, the same time we both set our alarms. I got up and dressed, I got out of the room to see Paul tapping his foot on the floor.

"Your 30 seconds late" he whispered while trying to hold in a laugh.

I couldn't help to chucklea little bit myself. We talked for about an hour until the subject of stayinghere came up. He talked me into staying here so I told the others I would stayif they wanted to... they didn't hesitate to say yes. I did have to admit, it'sgreat here, there's food, water, safety and not that many people to worry aboutit was okay to be around my parents'. They're not the nicest people in theworld but I would happily die by them. We had the leftover chili from lastnight. I didn't realize that I cooked too much. Roxanne wanted to start agarden and since I told her that we would be staying here fora while shedecided to start. She stole seeds form the base near Vancouver. She Hadtomatoes, lettuce, carrots, roses and other plants. Since we were so isolatedit was perfect for growing plants, there wasn't that much nuclear waste orradiation. Paul though being homosexual, he still flirted with my youngersister Jane. They seemed cute together. Even know that's technically the ONLYperson he can flirt with without getting slapped in the face. My parents wereworking on the base. They were modifying it for extra protection 'just in case'they said. I went to read a book because I had pretty much nothing to do. Therewas a large selection of different books ranging from romance to action toadventure... I picked an adventure/survival because that was my favorite genreof stories. It was a book called "the Boy and the Wolf" it was abouta boy who got kidnapped and ran away into the forest. He then found and befriendeda wolf and had an adventure to get back home to Valdez... it was a great storyand had a perfect storyline. When I finished I went outside to check up oneveryone... Roxanne, Paul and Jane were there but they said my parents haddisappeared...
