Chapter Six
After everyone but Jane and I finish eating their "pizza", Jane stands up.
"Okay, see you," she says, then she picks up the plate and leaves. It's silent again.
"I'm not hungry," I say quietly. I was before, but now I'm just... not. I get up and leave the room without another word.
Jane's walking up the stairs, probably going to her room. I do need to find out where my room is, so I follow her up. I keep my distance behind her, because I don't want her to think I'm following her. By the time I'm up there, she's already in a room.
Guess I'll have to check in all of them, I sigh to myself.
I immediately slam the door of the first room shut. Jeff's room. I don't need to say anything else.
The next one isn't half as bad as the first. This one's obviously Ben's, and I know because he said he likes video games. It has a Call of Duty poster on one wall, and a Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess poster on another, and above his bed he had a Majora's Mask poster.
I don't want to look in the next room for too long. It's Jane's room. She has her hair hanging in her face, and she's eating the "pizza". But I notice something. Sitting next to her, on the bed, is a mask. A white mask with light black fabric covering the eyes. How could I not tell that she's wearing a mask? She looks up, her hair still covering her face, and looks at me. Through her hair, I see dulled green eyes.
"Do you need something?" she asks.
"Oh... um... sorry for bothering you, but... um... I need to know where my room is."
"Okay," she says, then waves me off. "Wait out there."
I nod, then close the door. About two minutes later, she comes out.
"You know," she smiles, "next time, don't stalk me if you need something."
"Yeah, sorry."
"Don't worry. But what all did you see?"
"I saw..." I lower my voice just in case, "that you're wearing a mask."
"Did you see my real face?" she asks, concerned.
"No, just your eyes."
"Oh, okay. You're fine."
She leads me down the hall, and past the room I thought would be mine. Instead, mine is a room near the end of the hall. There is another room next to it.
"Who's room is that?" I ask.
"That's Slendy's room."
"Slendy... you mean Slenderman's?"
"Yeah, we call him Slendy."
"Okay," I nod. The little girl skips up the stairs. I notice that she skipped dinner, so I don't know her name.
"Hey!" I call. She looks up, smiles, then runs to me.
"Yes?" she asks.
"Can you tell me your name?"
"I'm Sally!" she says. Then she holds up something in her hand. It's an adorable white teddybear with blue button eyes. "This is Charlie."
"Well, nice to meet you, Sally. You too, Charlie."
Sally giggles, then skips down the hallway to the room that's next to Jane's.
"She's just plain cute!" I coo, causing Jane to laugh.
Jane opens the door to my room in, and I take in a huge breath as I walk through the door. It's my dream room. It's purple with two white stripes going through one wall, a beautiful queen-size bed with a purple bedspread and pillows to match, a not-too-girly chandelier, a bench by the window, and a white dresser, mirror, and stool. I'm speachless.
"Slendy found out what you wanted for a bedroom at dinner," Jane says, "and made it a reality. Who knows how he did it."
I walk over to the bed. There's a note written in fancy handwriting, and three other things on it. I read the note.I went to your emty house and got you some things you might want. They are refurbishing the house so it can be sold, and I thought you would like to keep these. I have also put the clothes you came in and some pajamas in your dresser.
~SlendermanWait, wasn't he the one who wrote the "You made a mistake coming here," note? Because the handwriting on that note wasn't very neat. Huh.
He was right. These are things I would want. He got my favorite outfit, my iPhone, and my sister's iPod. The outfit is folded up neatly, and he laid the iOS products on top. I pick the up my sisters iPod and look at it. She had it specaily made for her double-digits birthday. Double-digits are, or were, a big deal in my family. My dead family. She and I were both otakus, girls who like anime, manga, and Vocaloid. Her favorite anime of all time was Fullmetal Alchemist (FMA), so she had her specaily-designed iPod have the two main characters on it. Not the case, the iPod itself. Looking at it almost makesme cry. I honestly miss Sam more than I could say. And I miss my mother, too. But my father... his fate was horrible, too. Stupid cancer. It ruins people's lives. Stupid Jeff. He ruins people's lives, too.
I take my iPhone and Sam's iPod and place them on my dresser, and notice that when Slendy went to my house, he got my sneakers, too. I sigh with relief, and immediately sit down and take whoever's sneakers these are off. They look like Jeff's, but they're not guy sneakers. I wonder who's they are. They're not Sally's, obviously, they're to big for her. They're not Jane's either. She wears black high heals. Well, I don't think they're Jane's.
Jane. I forgot she was there. I look up and she's still standing in the doorway.
"Are these yours?" I ask, holding up one of the sneakers.
"No," she replies, "they're Nina's."
"Nina?"
"She doesn't live here."
"Oh, that makes sense."
"That's my dress, though," she smirks, pointing at the black dress I'm wearing.
"I know," I laugh. I've noticed that she was wearing the same kind of dress. "Do you want it back?"
"Nah," she says, waving me off, "I've got plenty." She gives me one last smile, then leaves. As soon as she does, chills run up my spine (yes, I can feel those). I'm living in a mansion of murderers and killers. How long will I live? I know I'll die young, due to my stupid (but still cool since I don't have to worry about getting hurt) disability, but I don't want to die that way. I want to die by some stupid thing that has to do with me not feeling pain, or natural causes. No cancer. No other illnesses. No murdering. But how?
