Chapter Nine

~Brooklyn's POV~

I turn off the shower, dry off, then put on the bathrobe. I'm tired. My eyelids are heavy. I almost forget that I'm living in a house of murderers. There's a laundry hamper in here, and it only has Jane's dresses in it. Is she the only one who takes showers? I bet she and Slendy are the only ones who have their clothes washed. I throw my dress in there, then leave. For a while, I forget they're all murderers. I don't know how I forget, but when you do, they seem almost normal. All exept Slendy. He just doesn't feel normal.
When I leave the bathroom, I feel eyes on my. More like no eyes. Slendy? EJ? Oh, well. I walk into my room and close and lock the door. But "No Eyes" is still watching me...

~Slenderman's POV~

She does not see me. She can feel my presence, but not see me. I want to study humans more. I know what they are like when they are scared, but I have never seen a teenage female human's ordinary life. I do not count the other males "humans". We have become monsters. They are no longer human. I shall not examine Jane; she is one of us as well, and Sally is too young. This girl is my only choice. She can't feel physical pain, so she can feel other things stronger. Like the pain of losing her family, or the eyes of whoever is watching her. She knows that either I or Eyeless Jack is watching her. She doesn't turn on the lights. Why not?
How am I supposed to do this? she wonders.
"Don't worry," I send my thoughts to her mind. "You will be fine."
She gasps, turns on turns on the lights, then sees me.
What are you doing here? she asks. She's surprised, and a little angry. And how long have you been here? I don't answer her first question.
"I've been here long enough to know you can't feel pain."
Oh... Can you please leave? Not to be rude, but-
"Yes, you need your privacy. I will go."

~Brooklyn's Point of View~

Slendy left. What was he doing in here, anyway? I sit on my bed, rest my hands on my knees, then burry my head into my palms. I feel alone. I feel alone in a house of people. Then I hear voices.
"Brook does have a good voice!" Sally cries. "Jeff was right! I want you to hear her!"
I think my face turns red. Okay...
Sally knocks on the door.
Tap tap t-tap tap.
"Come in," I call.
Sally and someone else come in. As soon as they do, though, I don't feel as alone. I look up and see that Jane too.
"Brookie," Sally says. She comes up with the cutest nicknames! "Can you sing me a lullaby? Jane wants to hear you, too." Jane smiles and nods.
"Alright," I smile.
But I'm not going to sing them a song that's sad for me. I'll sing that beautiful one I found online.

Wandering child of the earth, do you
Know just how much you're worth? You have
Walked this this path since your birth, you are
Destined for more...

~Jeff's POV~

I toss my knife in the air, then catch it. Should I kill her? Scar her? Hurt her? She got the wrong idea about me. I can't have that. I slide my knife into my pocket, then I leave the room. I'm about to go into her room, but I stop myself.

There are those who'll tell you you're wrong, they will
Try to silence your song, but right
Here is where you belong, so don't
Search anymore.

You are the dawn of a new day that's
Waking, a masterpiece still in the making,
The blue in an ocean of grey.

I can't move. I'm stuck. Her singing, it ruins me! It's my weakness! And she knows! I press my ear against the door, and listen.

You are right were you need to be
Poised to inspire and to succeed
You'll look back and realize someday.

In your eyes there is doubt as you
Try to figure it out but that's
Not what life is about so have
Faith, there's a way.

Though the world will try to define you
They can't take the light that's inside you
But don't you dare try to hide
Let your fears fade away.

Her singing... it's beautiful...
No! I won't tell myself that! No!
But it's just... I sink to the ground.

You are a dawn of a new day that's
Waking, a masterpiece in the making,
The blue in an ocean of grey.

You are right were you need to be
Poised to inspire and to succeed
You'll look back and realize someday.

You are a dawn of a new
Waking, a masterpiece in the making
The blue in an ocean of grey.

You are right were you need to be
Poised to inspire and to succeed
Soon you'll finally find your own way.

No! Now I'm going to freaking cry! No!
Oh crud, someone's coming. I move out of the way, and Jane comes out. Brooklyn is sitting on her bed, and Sally is asleep next to her. She's stroking Sally's brown hair while she hums the song she sang.
"What are you doing?" Jane asks, snapping me from my thoughts.
"Nothing," I growl.
"Then why are your looking in there?"
"Shut the hell up!"
Brooklyn stands up, starts to cradle Sally in her arms. Sally lets go of Charlie, Brooklyn bends down to pick him up. She's about to leave her room, so I go back to my own room. As soon as I walk through the door, my knife hits the wall. What the hell is wrong with me? Ugh. She will know I'm not an soft idiot. She'll know if it's the last thing I do.
