"Why doesn't Jason know about you and Colin?" Rose asked. She was pacing back and forth in my office as if she was the one hurting. "Jada he has to know." She stopped pacing to look at me, her arms crossed. Rose gave me a stern look that I didn't even know she could muster.
"Because he doesn't approve of their relationship." Kayla jumped in. "He's always talking about how you guys are such good friends but if they were to hook up then..." She bit down on her lip nervously.
"Then what?" I urged for her to go on with her story.
Kayla shrugged. "He always cuts off right there and he gets really mad." Kayla sat back down in the chairs parked in front of my desk. "What are you gonna do?"
I exhaled slowly to myself and looked between Kayla and the picture on my screen of my boyfriend being kissed by some girl on the corner of his mouth. I really should've known better than to get involved with him. I sometimes envied Kayla and my brother Jason. They had the perfect relationship according to the media. An NFL star and a bestselling author. It was a true relationship. They were married and had a beautiful son.
"Nothing. Right now at least. Better that Lil J is gonna be there so I won't be tempted to bust a cap in Colin's behind." I said, smiling at my best friend.
She giggled. "Oh Lord. Jada please don't let my son come home with a string of cuss words in his vocabulary.
"I told daddy and Jason not to get you that gun." Rose uttered loud enough for us to hear as she shook her head. She too sat down in front of me. "Lord have mercy." She continued to utter.
Kayla and I exchanged looks before erupting into laughter. Rose soon joined in on our laughing.
A knock came through my door lowly. Clearing my throat, I answered, "Come in."
"Uhm Ms. Ren." Alice gently called out to me, entering the room. "Alec Sonny's manager, Mr. Loder, is here to speak to you about the fight that started last week in the parking lot."
"Welp uh..." Rose uncomfortably cut in. "That's our cue."
"Mhm." Kayla agreed.
Kayla and Rose stood up, grabbing their purses. They exited my office quickly before I could say anything. This wasn't gonna take long.
Loder came into my office and made himself comfortable in my chair. I don't know why. I didn't exactly invite him in. Loder was thirty-four and looked extremely good. He had light brown eyes, dark brown, curly hair that was shaved at the edges and rather high cheekbones. He was tall, 6'6" to be exact and very lean. He wore a simple gray suit, black wing tailed loafers and a black tie. He looked sharp. All the girls of all ages has had a crush on despite his age. Even I did at one point.
"Didn't we have a discussion on the phone that I do business with my clients..." I crossed my arms and leaned back in my chair. "Not their managers. Alec Sonny is gonna have to come in."
Alec Sonny was a small time singer who had released one album that consisted of remakes of different songs. He traveled across the country, opening up concerts for major celebrities.
"And didn't we have a discussion that he couldn't?" Loder smirked at me before he crossed his legs.
"Listen Jayden, as you can tell, I don't keep stuff professional. Perks of running your own firm but I'm not afraid to get a little sloppy." I leaned onto my desk, folding my arms over each other to support myself.
"Good." Loder stood up. "Then you should know that I'm not either. Give me a call." And with that he left the room.
