"Jada!" My mom called from downstairs. I stopped trying to make Colin look perfect only to answer back. "Yes ma'am?" I stepped into the hallway so she could hear my voice better.
"You and Colin come down. Everyone is here." She answered.
"Coming!" I confirmed before stepping back into the bathroom. I glared at Colin. "Ready bae?" I asked. He only nodded. I connected our lips together and instantly deepened it. I pulled away, saliva dripping from my mouth. I smirked at Colin's surprised face. "We might not kiss like that for the rest of the day. Black people don't ever know how to go home." I joked.
"Come on, girl." Colin grabbed my hand and led me down the stairs. We parted hands when we reached the bottom stairs. I didn't wanna draw more attention to us.
"There she is." Jason said as he dragged me over to the family room where everyone was at. Colin followed behind us.
"Look at my cousin!" My cousin, Darnell, who was twenty-four just like me, called out to me. I smiled uneasily as he rushed over to me and hugged me. He hugged me so tight, he picked me up off my feet. "Lookin' like a kid." He said with a sly smile. Around my family, I was known for being a 'kid' because of the way I dressed and I'm suppose to be some big shot lawyer. But I didn't mind. It was something we all laughed at.
"She's a hoe."
I whipped around and saw my cousin Kennedy. She was nineteen years old and swears she knows better than me, thinks she's smarter. She always compared herself to me and I didn't understand why. Our mental levels were on two different levels.
I rolled my eyes. "And you're a college dropout." I mugged her only for her to roll her eyes and walk away. She betta...shidddd...
"Why don't you and your boyfriend come sit down on the couch over here with us." My Uncle Sammy said as he waved us over. I watched as him, Uncle Davis, Uncle Leo and my dad smirked at Colin. Oh gosh.
I nodded. "Yes sir." I looked over to Colin who looked as if this was nothing. As if he didn't see my uncles smiling crazily at him. I wanted to run upstairs with Colin, lock the door, and just wait until everyone left. Yet, my feet was walking toward the couch. But I was happy Colin was following me. I sat down, across from my uncles and Colin next to me. I crossed my legs and forced a smile on my face.
"So...Colin is it?" Uncle Leo said.
Colin nodded. "Yes sir it is."
"Tell me... How did you and my niece meet?" Uncle Leo questioned.
"Well one day after a game, Jason invited me over to her house and she was upstairs at the time and I would have felt rude if I didn't say hello so I went upstairs and said hello and we started talking from there." Colin answered truthfully.
"Is that how you guys met?" Uncle Leo asked toward me.
"Yes sir." I nodded and continued to smile at my uncle.
"How long have you guys been together?" Uncle Davis said as he eyes Colin and I.
"Eight, nine months." I answered before Colin could say anything. He was probably gonna tell him how long we've been dating and the media knew because that's what we usually told people.
"Really? The media found out about you guys two, three months ago." Dad spoke as he sipped on some water.
"Yeah well I refused to let Colin tell the media and the press because I was scared but after some time, I let Colin do it." I lied. If they knew the real truth, Colin would probably have a hole in his knee.
"You guys having sex?" Uncle Sammy challenged.
"H-Huh?" I stammered. Colin and I exchanged looks with each other.
