MULTIMEDIA, JADA, ROSE, AND KAYLA'S SUNDAY DINNER OUTFIT

"Whoa..." I was speechless and I had to fight the urge to grab Kayla by her muscle tee and shake her and ask her what the hell she meant 'she was pregnant.' It's not like I was stupid and just didn't know what she meant because I surely did. Hell I had just taken a pregnancy test last night. "What the hell do you mean?!" I spat.

"Girl lower yo damn voice." Kayla said, mugging me. I mugged her back. "Damn..." She cursed. "Next time I'll just tell you last if you gone be doin this." She muttered and rolled her neck.

"Wait..." I paused. "Am I the first to know about you being prego?" I asked in disbelief. Something always big or major in Kayla's life, she would always tell Jason first then me.

Kayla nodded. "Yeah. Don't tell anyone! Not Rose! Not Colin! And definitely not Jason! I will take you down with me when he finds out!" She yelled.

"Why would Jason be mad? He was the one not using a condom." I paused again to keep myself from saying anymore. I felt eerie about having this conversation about my brother with his wife also my best friend. "Never mind." I gulped before taking a sip of my coffee.

"He's not gonna be necessarily mad...." She slurred off. "More so mad that I didn't tell him as soon as I found out."

"Man..." Smacking my teeth, I slapped the table. "Quit trippin'. I'll smack that boy upside his head if he say ish. Ain't yo fault."

"True." She agreed with me. "When are you and Colin gonna have a baby?" When the words purged through her lips, I nearly choked on the little salvia left in my mouth.

"Yeah, Jada. When are y'all? It's been what? Eight months?" Rose came from behind me. She sat back down next to me.

"I don't think we are right now. I prefer to be together a little longer." I lied. To be honest I was scared to have a child. My ma always told me when I saw sixteen that if was to get pregnant, the second I go into labor, death was crossing my path. The women in my family had a history for things going wrong in labor and my mom was the first for nothing to go wrong. I was scared and there was nothing else to it.

"Girl please." Kayla rolled her eyes. "Well all know you want a child. You would never stop talking about 'Oh my gosh what if we have children? I so wanna have his babies.' as soon as y'all started going out. So don't give me that. So what's the real reason?"

I shrugged. "I don't then." I continued to lie. "Just too much I guess."

"But it's gonna be hella worth it. I promise." Kayla said trying to assure me. She touched my wrist gently. "It is."

"Can we please just change the subject?" I asked, turning my face away from them.

SUNDAY EVENING 5 O'CLOCK

"It's this one thing that got me trippin'." I sung Amerie's One Thing as I danced around my room in my black black booties, my blue skater dress flaring up. I forced my blue rose earrings in my ear. I plopped down on the bed, forcing a loud groan from it. Rose came into my bedroom from the bathroom, putting a hand on her hip. "Damn you look good." She admitted with a smile. I looked Rose up and down. She wore a Marvel bodycon dress and red laced up flats. "You do too." Her long golden brown legs looked flawless along with her hair that had every strand curled.

I got up from the bed and walked over to my vanity. I picked up a bobby pin and pinned back a couple strands of the right side of hair. I applied a light coating of red lipstick before getting up from the vanity. I went back into the bathroom and found Kayla in a sleeveless red skater dress that was designed with black roses and black pumps. "Y'all bitches tryna out due me?" I joked. I looked myself and the mirror and was really feelin myself. "But let's hurry...the men are down stairs probably drinking."

"Mmkay." Kayla said before following Rose and I downstairs.

"Wow you men clean up nice." Kayla complimented our men. I looked at all of them and simply nodded my head in agreement. Alexander, Rose's boyfriend, wore a white Polo long sleeve button down, dark blue jeans, and the light brown colored Sperry's. Jason wore a black, collared, button down, gray slacks and black wing tip loafers. I looked to my boyfriend who had on on a white collared button down coated with black slacks and simple black loafers. Cody wore a collared red polo shirt, khakis and red and white wing tip loafers.

Dressing up for Sunday dinners were my family's tradition. No matter how we were feeling, we had to dress up and that was every Sunday.

"I guess Rose and Alexander made up." Kayla whispered in my ear. I giggled and pushed her away.

"Where is my niece and nephew?" I furrowed my eyebrows together and directed my question at Cody and Jason.

"Well Justin and Ali are down stairs in your game room playing those arcade games you have down there." Cody answered.

I nodded. "Good, good. Now we can talk business." I walked into the dining room. "Come here." We all took a seat at the long wooden table.

Rose cleared her throat. I loved when Rose got straight to the point. She knew that every time, before the dinner was served, we would talk about achievements or special news that happened in the week. Even though we didn't do Sunday dinners a lot, she knew what to do.

"Okay well...Alex and I are getting married." She blurted before reaching down and grabbing his hand. He happily took her hand into his before kissing it ever so gently.

"Oh for real?" Jason asked shocked. I couldn't suppress my laugh. "That's great Rose." We all congratulated her.

"Alright our turn." Jason continued to speak as he reached across the wooden table to grab Kayla's hand. "We're having another baby."

I acted surprised because I knew Jason would get mad that Kayla told me first and not him. A little stupid to me.

I could feel glares being burned into the side of my face. I turned and saw Colin staring at me. I gulped.

"Can I talk to you?" Colin asked.

I only nodded before following my man into the kitchen. I sat down at the bar and held my face in my hands. I knew what he wanted to talk about and I wished we weren't gonna have this discussion.

"Why?" Was all Colin asked. He knew good and well that I knew what he meant. I sure as hell did but I couldn't find words to form a sentence to tell him the truth. I know he really wants to know it and hell I wanna tell him but I'm scared.

"I-I..." I stuttered.

"Why?" Colin continued to ask over and over. I began to get annoyed with the whole thing. Might as well tell him right?

"BECAUSE I AM SCARED I WILL DIE! HAPPY?!"
