Today is going to be a big day, today is the day I go into the training room and show the Gamemakers what I can do, then they'll give me a score. The people of Panem, including those who want to sponsor tributes, will see this score; this score could be the difference between life and death for a tribute. I could score anywhere from a 1 to a 12, the highest being an essentially unattainable 12, no one has ever gotton one. As I shower I contemplate what I'll show them, I settle on a little wrestling and throwing around an axe. I walk down to breakfast and seat myself next to Blair. "Hey Blair?"
"Yeah?"
"Could you come into presentation with me to wrestle?"
"Okay"
"Thanks" I begin to eat slowly, loading my plate with carbs and protein so I had plenty of energy in 3 hours. I find myself idlely stabbing the empty plate in about 15 minutes. Soon enough I find myself walking into the presentation room Blair by my side as Fredrick walks out. I walk over to the mats and pin Blair within 1½ minutes. "Wow I just pinned a victor!" I think. Blair walks out of the room and I grab an axe and throw it a dummy nailing its head from 50 feet away. The gamemakers dismiss me and I go into the elevator and hit the roof button. I sit on the roof and think about my family, Anna and Beth are at their day care, my dad is at work chopping trees, and my mom is doing laundry. A tear streams down my cheek and lands on my shoe, I feel my hand wrapping around my token. I hear footsteps and see Blair sit next to me.
"What's up Baby-girl?" I smile knowing Blair cares, "Lemme guess, thinking of home?" I nod and he wipes the tears from my eyes. I know Blair is going to do the best he can to get me good sponsors, he's told me I'm like a daughter to him. "Now where did you learn to wrestle?"
"Um... well I kinda learned during training."
"Well if you can teach yourself how to wrestle I'm sure you'll do fine in the Games tomorrow." My heart nearly stops when I realize I'm going into the arena tomorrow. He sees the terror in my eyes and pulls me into a tight embrace, I close my eyes and the tears begin flowing. "I'm gonna help get you out of there alive."
"Why me? What about Fredrick?"
"I know only one of my tributes can survive so I pick one to help. I chose you because I know you have what it takes." Suddenly I don't care that there hasn't been a victorious tribute from 7 in 20 years, because I trust that I'll be the first since Blair, with his help of course.
"Come on it's time for dinner. Oh, and don't tell anyone about our friendship, just trust me."
We walk down to dinner preparing to see my score not expecting anything over a 7. Just as we sit down the program comes on, all of Panem is required to watch. All the Careers got eights, the boy from 3 got a four, the girl got a six, the boy who asked me to be his ally got a two, glad I didn't bring myself down with him. The girl from 5 got a three, both 6's got a 7, I got a... 10! After my name flashes on the screen I stop watching. I eat way past I'm full so I can have a full stomach for the first part of the Games. My stomach can not hold another bite so I walk up to my room pondering what waits in the arena, keeping in mind that the capitol loves a good Game. I lie in bed and eventually fall asleep.
