Dan's POV:

Phil seemed shocked at my words. What did he think of all this? He pulled me in suddenly.

"Dan you could never lose me! If only I'd known this was why you were distressed! Thank God!"

"So, you're ok with this?"

"I hate that this happened to you, Dan. To us. I'm so sorry, but in regards to your father, I would never up and leave over something like this! Did you really think I would?"

"I-yeah. Relationships are better when families share their approval."

"And who told you that? The relationship master?"

"No."

"Dan, a relationship between 2 people depends on them only. Not their friends. Not their families. Them. Their future relies how willing they are to be together and struggle through challenges, like this one. Our families don't hate one another, we know that much. The rest will work itself out."

I looked at him confidently. He always knew what to say.

"I mean, hell, this whole thing could go south, so, we don't have to worry about it for now."

My confidence then turned into despair. "Phil, please don't say stuff like that."

"Sorry. I was just using perspective to make you feel better. You like when things are to the point."

"Yeah, but my hate for the thought of losing you surpasses my love for the way things are worded."

"Really?"

"Shut up, Phil," I said, kissing him. "I don't get why you question things like that. You are what matters to me. People can beat me, slander me online, but if someone were to even touch you they'd be dead, all right?"

"A-All right."

"Like you mean it."

"I did mean it."

"You hesitated."

"Cause I don't think I'm worth it. I'm not perfect, Dan. I'm not you."

"Exactly! You're not me! You're Phil Lester, AmazingPhil. You're so talented and kind. What do you not see in yourself that's making you like this?"

"I think that's enough park time for one day. Let's go home."

"Phil-"

"Really. Let's just drop it for now."

I eyed the nearby lake in defeat. I tried not to worry for the time being. He'd share his feelings when he was ready. "I'm kinda hungry though. I don't care if I spend some money. I need food."

"How about I make you something at home," he smiled at me.

"Phil, no, I was going to treat you. Where do you wanna go?"

"Refusing isn't gonna work. You'll like what I make."

"That's not why I'm-"

"I know Danny fire, geez," Phil rolled his eyes. "You've been through a lot. I already picked a place today, now you get to pick the food."

"Technically you're picking the food to make for me."

He shot me a glare that said, "Dan, if we don't leave, you're getting the silent treatment", so I caved.

"Fine. I guess there's no winning this one."

"No, no there isn't."
