Chapter 19

Dan's POV

I was pumped for Phil and I to go to the park because I had a plan up my sleeve. However, there was something going on with him that he wasn't telling me, and deep down, we both knew it. Please Phil, after today, I hope you feel like you can tell me anything.

"I'm ready, bear! Let's go!"

"After you," I smiled. Gosh, I was so excited. It was like a million tiny fireworks were exploding inside me. We got our morning coffee after waiting in the long Starbucks line and plopped ourselves on one of the park benches. I watched with satisfaction as he sipped his latte. So precious. Welp, it was now or never.

"What are you looking at, silly?" he asked.

"Phil, I need to tell you something," I said. The nerves began to get to me.

"It-It's not bad, is it?"

"No, not at all."

"You sure? Is this about me? I can explain-"


"Phil, slow down a minute. I've been thinking about this for awhile and...I figured now would be the best time."

"O-ok."

"In 2009, I was just this lonely, weird teenager with practically no friends. My life was depressing. I struggled to find the joy in things, that was until I met you. You encouraged me to do the most incredible things, which included the start of my career. I was so afraid of what would happen if I pursued law in college, but you convinced me things would be all right. I mustered the courage to continue YouTube, all thanks to you."

"Dan, I-"

"Hold on just a moment. You have made me so happy, You're a constant ray of sunshine, and you're the primary reason I get up in the mornings. I love you so much. With you, I want to share all my secrets, try new things, pursue life. I'm so in love with you. Every day with you is an adventure. I never want to live in a world without you, and I want to spend the rest of my life with you. That being said..." I pulled out the ring box I'd been keeping in my back pocket.

"Philip Michael Lester, will you marry me?"
