Her parents were edgy that night, but Alexis didn't care. After the police left, Alexis quietly took a twenty minute lecture from her parents for lying, and then was finally alone with Daysia.
"Are you okay?" Alexis asked, sitting on the bed next to Daysia.
She nodded.
"I'm really sorry. At least the cops said Ron had to be gone before you came back." Alexis said.
"Yeah," Daysia agreed. "Hopefully my mom will get better without him."
"I wish you could stay here forever." Alexis whispered. "I never want you to go."
"I wish we could go away. I wish we were far away from here. I'm so sick of all the bullshit." Daysia sighed.
Alexis nodded, and got up on her knees. She walked on her knees behind Daysia and gently pulled out Daysia's customary pony tail holder. She then began massaging Daysia's scalp with her fingertips. Alexis smiled as Daysia's entire body relaxed into Alexis' hands. Alexis felt all the tension began to leave Daysia's body.
Alexis had began to crave this time with Daysia. It was the only time in which Daysia and Alexis allowed themselves to touch and be completely vulnerable with each other physically. It had become an art to Alexis. Every touch was meant to elicit a response from Daysia. Each response from Daysia also brought a response from Alexis. The only difference is Daysia never saw Alexis' response.
Alexis called them Featherlite touches in her head. She would start with Daysia's hair then move down to run her fingertips down Daysia's neck. Feeling her whole body react when Daysia shivered at the touch.
As Alexis massaged Daysia's scalp and back she felt like things were looking up. The cops would have to make Ron leave and then at least Daysia would have a chance with her mom.
At this point Daysia was laying face down on the bed while Alexis straddled her. Daysia had pulled her shirt up to her neck and Alexis wad rubbing her back. It was a weird feeling Alexis got in these moments. Something she had never felt before. A stirring inside. She didn't know what it meant or what she should do next. All she knew is that she literally craved having Daysia so close. She felt this stirring excitement when Daysia was around but this aching loss when she was gone.
Finally Daysia had drifted off to sleep. Alexis felt pride in being able to relax Daysia in that way. Daysia had a lot of anxiety and calming her wasn't always easy. It was one more thing that proved how important they were to eachother. One more piece of the puzzle.
The next morning Daysia's mom was calling first thing. Alexis' mom told her they had to take Daysia home.
"The cops said Ron had to leave first! You heard them!" Alexis exclaimed.
"I know they did but now Daysia's mom is refusing to kick him out and the cops are saying if we don't take her home its kidnapping. Please understand, Alexis, this isn't some t.v. show. This is our life. And we can't just take Daysia even if we want to." Her mother replied, clearly exasperated.
Just then Daysia emerged from Alexis' room. "It's fine." She said. "Thanks for letting me stay last night. I'll get my stuff."
Alexis followed her into the bedroom.
"Don't go, Daysia. The cops told us you didn't have to." Alexis pleaded.
"That's what I've been trying to tell you. You can't trust the cops. They are always letting you down and saying it's out of their hands. It's fine. I'll go home. But we have to leave soon. I'm going to make a list of rules for us to live by okay? You make a list of supplies we need. That will keep me distracted at home." Daysia said.
