Chapter 3: Surprise

Alexis and Daphne's mom was at work when they called. Her voice was loud and angry on the other end.

"You did what?!" she shrieked.

"We didn't do it, mom! That girl is a liar! She didn't have a mark on her!!" Alexis argued.

"Let me talk to her." Daphne said.

Alexis held up her finger as their mother began to speak.

"I'll be there but I am NOT bringing you home! I will talk to your principal!" She barked before hanging up.

"What did she say?!" Daphne asked anxiously.

Alexis smiled with triumph. "She said Mr. Gurt is in trouble."

Both girls smiled at each other before moving away from the phone so Bea and Dahlia could call their mother.

The girls snickered happily at the thought of the mother barging jn and giving Mr. Gurt the what-for.

By the time Alexis' mother arrived the other girls had been picked up. She stormed into the principal's office and slammed the door behind her. No one could hear what was being said, just the faint sound of muffled yelling. The receptionist looked terrified. Alexis and Daphne exchanged looks of excitement.

After about ten minutes, their mother walked out. "Come on, girls." she said ushering Alexis and Daphne out of the reception area.

"What happened?" Alexis inquired sheepishly. Her mom could be quite frightening and she didn't want any of what Mr. Gurt had just recieved.

"Why are we leaving? We didn't do anything!" Daphne added.

"Shush!!!" Their mother spat. "We will discuss it in the car!"

The girls walked quickly to the car, anxiously waiting for their mother to tell them what happened.

Once in the car, Daphne and Alexis calmly waited for the mother to catch up. They were proud of themselves, certain their mother had cleared things up on their behalf.

"What the hell went on, today?!" She yelled once they were in.

"Nothing, Mom!!" Daphne answered irritably.

"Don't you lie to me!!! You both are grounded!!" Their mother shot back.

"We didn't hurt her, Mom. This was all Daphne's new friends' idea! I told you they were bad news. Especially that freak Daysia!" Alexis interjected.

"Alexis, you chose to be a part of this. You could've said no." Their mother said. "The principal said he was going to question the other kids and check that girl for bruises. Until he makes a decision, you all are suspended."

The rest of the car rise was silent. Alexis wasn't sure why she threw Daphne's friends under the bus, but she really didn't like them. They seriously got under her skin. Besides this was their idea! And they were the ones who were too afraid to handle their business one-on-one! Ugh!

Alexis quickly went to her room. She closed the door behind her and put in her head phones. The sound of Three Days Grace began blasting through her iPod and pulsating into her ears.

Alexis spent the rest of the evening in her room listening to her Ipod. She also did a little reading and wrote some poetry before retiring early so she wouldn't have to spend any extra time with her mom.

The next morning, her mother woke the girls up bright and early.

"WE ARE SUSPENDED, MOM!!" Alexis heard Daphne yell as she emerged from her room.

"Not anymore!" Their mom yelled back, "Your principal called, he talked to the other kids and you two, Dahlia, and Bea have In School Suspension. Everyone else gets to go back to class as usual."
