Me and the red-haired boy talked until the teacher came in. I learned his name was Josh. He played drums and lived within a few blocks of where I live. I also noticed we had third, fourth, and sixth period together. I was surprised, even though our school was rather small, so a lot of people had the same classes together.
The teacher launched into a discussion about a play we would be studying a little later in the year called "All My Sons". I zoned out and didn't even realize that the bell rang until someone tapped my shoulder.
"It was nice meeting you, and do you mind telling me where my math class is?" He looked up from packing his bag.
"Yeah, what teacher do you have?"
"Uh..Mrs. Still?"
"Here I'll show you from here, its a couple doors down," I got up, Josh joining me in walking out the door and towards his class.
"Thank you, Tyler, it's kind of hard being the new kid," He laughed.
"No problem, see you third period," I turned to head towards my art class. Josh was nice, and despite my social anxiety that came with talking to anyone new, it was rather easy to talk to Josh. It was like I had known him before.
Art went by really fast, and I was off to my science class with Josh. When I walked through the doors, I noticed he was sitting in the back, alone. I walked over to him, a soft smile playing on his lips when he saw me.
"How'd math go?" I asked, sitting down next to him.
"Pretty okay, considering I knew no one."
"You will eventually get to know more people, it's only the first day."
"I know, but most people have been here since freshman year, and they know everyone," He sighed.
"Hey, you know me know, that's a good start," We both smiled.
"Hey mother fuckers!" Brendon walked through the door, flinching dramatically when the teacher shot him a glare.
"Uh, who's that?" Josh laughed.
"Brendon, my friend," I rolled my eyes.
Brendon sat down next to me on my right, as Josh was on my left. He shot me a look and raised his eyebrows.
"Brendon, this is Josh," I sighed. I was a little worried how Brendon would rub off on some people, as he was kind of a spaz. Josh seemed pretty okay with him, though, as after Brendons grand entrance they started talking about bands.
Eventually their conversation came to a halt when the teacher started her lesson. We all took notes, Brendons comments about what the teacher was wearing stirring an occasional laugh from nearby classmates.
The last period of the day came, which was music. I was excited to say the least. Josh was in the room that had the drums, as I was in a practice room with the piano. After a while, I had a tune to build a song onto, which was good. The end of the day came, and me and Josh walked out to the parking lot.
"Hey Tyler, here's my number, if you, like, want to hang out, or talk or something?" His voice trailed off. I smiled, taking the piece of paper he handed me.
"I'll text you sometime tonight," I said, trying not to get too excited.
"Sweet, and thanks for helping me out today and being my friend, you know? It's difficult talking to people in a completely new state for the first time, but you made it easier," He smiled.
"No problem, Josh. See you tomorrow?"
"See you tomorrow."
I couldn't sleep so I did this instead lmao. Hope I am doing okay, please leave feedback! :^)
