Dumb/Cliché Fanfic Thing: Story Starters
Ironic putting this as the last letter in the alphabet, but when the beginning of the story starts with an alarm ringing/someone getting up to go to school or work, the person is moving, or when the person starts off by saying their name and/or something about how 'This is my -possible adjective here- story/life'....we've got a problem.
The problem: it's overused and not very creative.
The solution to fix this problem: come up with something new!
You could start with how much the person loves so-and-so, how they're taking a vacation to -place-/they're coming back from a vacation to -place-, how much they're looking forward to -thing-, an argument between the person and another person, or something else completely random!
The way to lose potential readers is starting the story off bad, which is what you don't want to happen, so make sure the beginning sparks interest and doesn't make the reader groan in annoyance because they just read this same beginning in the last book they read.
