I woke up on a Sunday morning by a loud knocking on my door.
I didn't care about my appearance, never really cared about what others thought about me. I covered up the healing bruise my dad had left on me from a few weeks before putting a jumper over my vest top and answering the door.
"morning early riser" said Bennett who was stood at the door with a bread roll in his hands.
"hey, what are you doing" I say out of pure confusion. We had never really spoken before.
He handed me the bread roll before he took a bite of his own and asked to come in. Of corse I said yes, he was very good looking. He reminded me of a British Matty from 'Awkward' the TV programme.
He walked in and sat down on the desk stool not wanting to be rude.
"well I just came to see what you were doing today, maybe get to know you seen as we are neighbours." He says and I laugh.
I fall onto my bed before starting to eat my bread roll.
"What are your plans, neighbour?" I say and he laughs back.
"Just to go down to the town, get to know the place. This is our home for 3 years and may as well get used to it, and you" He says.
"Gee thanks" I snap back.
The university was in London, not far from home but far enough, it was about a 20 minute drive to the centre where Big Ben and The London Eye are located. The town we were by now was only small but that was just perfect.
After a while I met back up with Bennett and we got to the car park to meet a few more people.
"Everyone this is Sara" he said pointing between me and the other 3 people.
There was 2 boys and another girl.
They got introduced as Jamie, Tom and Alicia. Alicia had long blonde hair, different to my dark brunette hair. Hers was also wavy, unlike mine which was straight. She also had a very slim figure where as I was more of a pear shape.
Alicia and I walked together down the street whilst the 3 boys walked behind.
"So, you are 18 right?" She said shifting her bag on her shoulder. She was beautiful, to beautiful to be hanging out with me.
"Yeh" I laughed.
"So how do you know Bennett" she asked making direct eye contact with me.
"His dorm in opposite mine" I say giving an awkward smile.
She winked and gave me a smile. "ooh" she babbled before our conversation led on. We talked about pointless stuff until a little while later we had made it into town.
It was around lunch when we all sat down in Nando's and my phone started to ring.
"hello" I spoke down the phones before signalling to my table that I would be right back.
"Hi sweetie, what are you doing now, It's just I'm going down the Cheshire to see Grandma. She isn't very well and I will be there until Tuesday. I want you to come with, I can get you off timetable right?" she asked.
"Mum, seriously. Is Grandma ok?" I asked.
"Yes, maybe, no. Listen come to Cheshire with me and I will sort the getting off school thing. Just pack your bags and I will pick you up in an hour or two" she said rushing, I could tell she wanted to get off the phone.
"Okay goodbye" I say before hanging up and walking back over to my table.
They looked at me with questioning looks before I picked up my bags.
"I'm so sorry can I make a change of plan. My mum's picking me up from school in and hour to take me away for a few days, family drama." I say not knowing much myself.
"Yeh" Bennett said with a disappointed look spread across his face.
"Right I will catch you all later, sorry again" I say turning and walking towards the door.
"Sara do you want walking back to school, I mean if you want" Bennett said standing from his chair.
"Nah I'm okay but thank you" I say before smiling and leaving the restaurant.
