"Let's head back," Newt said, gazing towards the castle, his hair in his eyes, "It looks as if it's dinner time."

"Oh, do we have to?" I moaned, jokingly giving puppy dog eyes.

"Come on, Crystal, we need to head back. I believe Jennifer and Kelly will wonder where we are," said Newt. I could see his facial expression, trying to be serious, mimicking his brother when he's mad, yet I could still somewhat see that mischievous glint in his eyes that always gave him away.

"Oh, they're fine," I said, laughing, "Let's just skip dinner and stay here," I joked, while I pretended to get even more comfortable.

"No, we'd get in trouble, we're going inside. Now," He said, putting his foot down, quite literally, all while trying to sound stern, but failing to do so entirely.

"Fine, but I'm keeping the blanket" I said, wrapping myself up in it, feeling the soft fleece on my chilled hands.

He reached his hands out, and I took them to help me up. We stayed standing, staring into each other's eyes. Those beautiful green eyes, with hints of brown in them made me so weak in the knees; yet I also felt calm while staring into them. I could have gotten lost in those eyes forever.

"Oh,.right," Newt said, realizing what we were doing. He immediately turned red in the face, and breaking eye contact, losing his smile, but as he looked away to clean up, I could see a little smirk.

I giggled, and started to help pack the blankets, food and basket into his leather bag, which was quite large for just an average student. We walked up the steps, and back into the school. The great stone castle looked down on us, as it towered upwards. We decided to stop by our common room, just to drop off our books and supplies. We didn't see Kelly or Jennifer in the common room, so we guessed that they must have already been eating dinner without us. Newt and I walked to the Great Hall, talking and laughing the whole way. That laugh, that laugh! What can I say, I loved it, I was almost addicted to it! It was always so full of happiness, joy and it was so pure. The way his eyes squinted, his nose scrunched up, his breaths when he laughed too hard, it just made my heart flutter. We entered the hall to see Jennifer and Kelly sitting at their normal spot at the Hufflepuff table. We walked over, and I sat next to Jennifer, and Newt sat next to Kelly, food appearing in front of us.

"How was tutoring, Kelly?" I asked, interested in what she had to say this time.

"Wasn't anything too great. I mean, it's difficult teaching them basic knowledge, because I already know it. But I just kept telling myself 'You were once in their shoes and knew nothing.' That somewhat helped, but it could have been worse," She confessed.

"Jennifer?" I questioned.

"I'm almost done. I just need to complete the last few paragraphs.Hey, Newt, you're really good at herbology, right?" Jennifer asked Newt, flashing a warm, welcoming smile at him.

"Um... well.. I..." he stuttered

"He's amazing, top of his class," a female voice answered

I didn't even have to look up to know that it was Leta, yet again. I moved my food around my plate, suddenly losing my appetite. I stayed, looking at my plate for as long as I could.

"He's really quite good at Herbology," said Leta, taking Newt's chin into her bony hand, squishing his cheeks together so that his cheeks looked like a fish. "Most probably because he's just excellent at working with magical creatures, so, they really go hand in hand."

"I... guess so," Newt answered, though his words were hard to make out through his squished face.

"I'm sure he could help you," She said, finally letting go of Newt's face. "Oh, and Newton, I just can't wait to watch you at your Quidditch practice tomorrow. Crystal, are you going to be there as well?" She asked, almost in a mocking tone.

"Unfortunately, I can't make it," I confessed, looking at her and then looking away. "I promised I would help Professor Aleta sage her classroom after class, and by the time I get done, quid-."

"That's unfortunate," she said, interrupting me. "Well, I had better get back to eating. I'll see you tomorrow, Newton." She said, smoothing his hair as she left.

Newt immediately put his hand through it too get it back to the messy way that he liked it..

"You know, Crystal, it's fine by me that you won't be there tomorrow. I understand, since you need a little bit of extra credit for the class. Maybe we can meet up afterwards? You know, depending upon how long practice runs," Newt reassured me, feeling bad about how Leta reacted.

"Sure," I said, trying to sound eager, but instead I felt like my heart had just been ripped out and stepped on a million times.

We finished dinner, well, everyone else except me, since I never regained my appetite, and walked back to the common room.

"I'm just exhausted, so I'm just going to head to bed," I yawned.

Newt stood up and hugged me.

"Goodnight," he whispered into my ear. I felt his warm breath on my neck.

We pulled away, grinning at each other. I turned, and headed to Jennifer, Kelly and I's room. I threw myself onto my bed, and silently started to cry into my pillow, with thousands of thoughts running through my head. 'Why is she so mean to me? Does Newt like her more then me? Of course he does. Why can't this be simple? Why can't I just go tomorrow? Why did I ever agree to helping this professor, I always watch Newt at practice. I was crying for only a few minutes when I heard our door begin to open. I try to stop crying, as Jennifer and Kelly walked in, but I just couldn't.

"Crystal? Talk to us. We know Leta is bothering you" Kelly asked with a concerned tone in her voice.

The two sat down, one on either side of me, and rubbed my back trying to calm me down, and I rapidly rubbed tears off my cheeks. I must have looked like a mess, my nose running, my face red, and my hair all frazzled.

"It's just.... Leta flirts with him all...all the time.. And... and she probably knows my... my feelings...and rubs it in my f..face. I wish I knew... knew how Ne...Newt felt about me. I really think he... he has feelings for me... and then she comes along... and changes my mind..." I said between cries, having two sob-breaths between each phrase.

"Oh, I know she's a terrible person, but Crystal, sweetheart, you have to believe us when we tell you we really think he likes you. We aren't just telling you this to try to make you feel better, it's because that's what we see, what's happening right in front of us. It's the truth," Kelly reassured me.

"He's probably too shy or nervous to tell you how he really feels, I mean, we are only fifteen, so these feelings are kind of new to us, and more new if we try to explain them to the someone that we have those feelings for. Give it time, and try not to let her bother you too much." Jennifer added in.

"I'll try," I said, finally calming down, but tears still pouring.

"That's our girl, now let's get some shut eye, we have classes tomorrow," Kelly said.
