The Walls We Build

The walls I have built around my heart

Were always meant to keep us apart

But with every look

I open to you like a book

The only one who can make me feel

Like I'm not just going to peal

Away from existence and away from this pain

You actually care and work at the stains

That someone else has left on the rug

You pull me in for one last hug

And now all the walls that I have built

Are beginning to tilt

Thank you, thank you for being there

And making me feel as light as air

The walls we build keep us from fear

But the right person can help bare

The weight on our shoulders that make us fall

Maybe we meant to be here after all!
