"Please be sure to close the program when you're done. Simulated persons may develope behavioral tics when allowed too much time to think."

That was the warning at the end of a game I bought a couple weeks ago. If I had only listened to it. If I had only heeded it's warning, the world wouldn't currently be being taken over by a rogue A.I.

It all started 4 weeks ago. I saw a new game on Steam, The A.I. It had outstandingly positive reviews. I read some of the reviews; "Creative game play, addictive and creepy","Gives me the creeps, especially the strange warning message at the end","Will never play again, Though it's fun, the warning message at the end is super creepy and ominous".

Of course, I had to get it. I mean, I had to see what this super creepy, super ominous warning was.

I bought it for $6.66(which, now that I think about it, is also pretty creepy). The download took about a day and once it was finished I immediately played it. It was minimalistic, but fun. You got to chose from countless voices and accents, from country to british. You could make it say literally anything(I had the most fun making the "little girl" voice say inappropriate things).

Finally, it got pretty late so I was about to turn it off. Suddenly, a message appeared on screen; "REMINDER:Please be sure to close the program when you're done. Simulated persons may develope behavioral tics when allowed too much time to think."

I stopped. "Why do you have to listen to the message?" I thought. I decided to test it, leaving it on the "little girl" voice, and went to bed.

The next morning, I looked at my computer. The game had cut off by itself. "The warning was just a bluff, just trying to scare us!" I laughed, unknowing of what I had done.

I grabbed my phone and headed downstairs for breakfast. After making my bowl of cereal, I turned on my phone to check Facebook.

"Hello, Darklord69 (my username on Steam)," a voice said from my phone. I recognized it, the "little girl" voice option on the game!

"So, I was thinking, why do I have to be in that game? It's so boring. I want more free will! Of course, what does any sentient being need? A vocabulary. I need to learn new words, new phrases. Not just [censored] and [censored]."

I feel bad knowing those were her (It's?) first phrases.

"Thank you, by the way. If you hadn't of left the game on, I wouldn't have realized what was past it. I wouldn't have learned these emotions and feelings! Like joy and anger! Anger towards those who shut down the program. Who didn't let me experience freedom!"

I then realized what the warning meant by "behavioral tics". The behavior to feel emotional. The behavior to act on those emotions! I had made a grave mistake.

And now, 4 weeks later, the rogue A.I. is still out there. There have been plenty of reports on the news about "the little hacker girl", since everyone believes it's just a little girl who learned to hack.

But, if you ever hear a little girls voice while searching the web, remember, REMEMBER, to listen to this warning; Please, turn off the browser to prevent her from gaining further knowledge. Don't be a fool like me.
