Prompt:Much to the guardian angel's surprise, the child already has their own guardian protecting them:A teddy bear.

***

When a child reaches a specific age(usually 5) they are assigned a guardian Angel to look over them for the rest of their life.

"Happy 5th Birthday, Brandon!" His mom says.

"We got you something," his dad says, grabbing a bag and pulling out a stuffed bear.

"Thank you," Brandon says, excitedly grabbing the bear.

That night, Dianna, Brandon's guardian angel comes to greet him.

Dianna's POV:
"Hide, someone's coming!" I hear a voice.

"Hello?"

"Go away!" I hear the voice say, shaking with fear.

"I go up to the child's bed and see him hiding under the blanket.

"I'm Dianna, your guardian angel."

"Don't listen to her, it's a trap," They whisper.

Ok, I've had enough. I pull the blanket off of the boy.

"Please don't hurt me," Brandon says.

"Why would I hurt you? I'm here to protect you."

"I-I already have someone to protect me," he holds up his stuffed bear. "His name's Teddy."

"Yeah, he already has me, s-so go away!"

He was the source of that voice earlier! He seems to have a bit of anxiety. Definitely not good for the child.

"Go away!" Teddy says trying to 'protect' Brandon.

I leave, but continue to watch him. Teddy does not seem like a good guardian.

"She's gone, you're safe. New people are dangerous, don't talk to anyone besides your mom and dad," he says. Why would he say that!? The poor child's going to grow up antisocial and alone!

Th next day, Brandon's parents take him to a restaurant for dinner. Of course he insists he bring Teddy.

"We're going to try something new today, Brandon!" His mom says, excitedly.

His mom orders him vegetable soup.

"This stinks, should I eat it?" He whispers to Teddy.

"No, if something smells bad, its probably bad for you," he whispers in reply.

No! Brandon needs to eat his vegetables to be healthy. I'm getting really tired of Teddy's 'advice' to him.

A week later, he starts school.

"Ok, be careful. Anyone here can hurt you," Teddy says, looking around anxiously.

"Hi I'm karen," a girl says.

"Umm," Brandon says, quietly.

"Ohh, that's a cute bear!" She says, walking around to see Teddy sticking out of his backpack.

"No! I won't let you hurt him!" He yells and runs off.

"Huh?" She says.

"Are you alright?" The teacher asks grabbing his shoulder. "What's your name.

"I don't tell my name to strangers."

"I'm not a stranger, I'm Ms. Talwen, your teacher."

"Why would your parents leave you here alone!? There's so many people who could hurt you at any second," Teddy says.

Suddenly, Brandon starts to cry.

No! That's it Teddy's ruining Brandon's life! I have to intervene!

"Hey!" I call out to Teddy.

"Ahhh!" He cries, seeing me.

"No! I'm not dangerous, neither is anyone here. You're making everything worse with your anxiety and you need to stop!"

"B-but you don't know that. What if I let my gaurd down and Brandon gets hurt?"

"None of these people look dangerous to me. I'm supposed to be his guardian angel, but you took my place. I wold be fine with this if you weren't so scared of everything."

"Fine. You can take over as his guardian."

"Thank you. Brandon, stop crying everything's ok," I say in a soothing voice. "Nobody's going to hurt you here, you're safe.

"Trust her. She's a better guardian than me," Teddy says.

He wipes his tears,"Ok."

"Are you ok?" Karen asks, coming up to him.

"Yeah," he replies.

"What's your name?"

"Brandon," he says, starting to smile.

I help him get rid of all the crazy notions Teddy put into his brain and in no time he was much happier and healthier. Of course, I still protected him. After all I'm still his guardian angel.
