Over the course of the next few days, both Deeks and I had upped the ante on how much we teased Abi.
It was all because she refused to work with us during an experiment in Chemistry, where we had to work in threes, and had instead went and joined Summer and Lucas. She had also ruined a potentially perfect ISA score for Deeks and I.
Because we were one person short, Miss Green decided to put Snobby Matthew in mine and Deeks' pair.
"Are you going to do any work?" Snobby Matthew asked.
Deeks and I were currently sat on our stools not bothering to even attempt the experiment; we were rocking back and forth on our stools, instead, trying to rock the furthest without falling off.
"No," Deeks scoffed, "why would we, when you're just gonna do it yourself anyways?"
Snobby Matthew rarely worked with anyone during lessons, and if he did, it was never out of choice, and he tended to ignore his partner and do the work himself. I didn't see why he would differentiate now.
"It's part of our ISA, Andrew. It makes up part of our GCSE."
Boy, Snobby Matthew knew how to piss me off; he was talking to Deeks as if he was 4 years old and didn't know what we were supposed to do.
"Shut up Matty," I growled. I hated it when he acted all high and mighty, but it was worse when it was aimed at myself and/or my friends.
"My name's not Matty." He hates being called Matty.
"Whatever," I said replied waving him off, "we know this shit's for the ISA, but what we also know is that you wouldn't dare flunk it..." I trailed off, knowing that he had understood what I was trying to imply.
"So you want me to do all the work, and then hand it in with all of our names on it?" he asked, his brow furrowing in concentration.
I clapped him on the back, glad he had understood, "atta boy, Matty son!"
I heard Deeks snicker when Matthew tried to argue out of it, but failed when I silenced his protests.
"You do the work, and Deeks and I will make sure you that no one knows that you took your controlled assessment home."
I knew I had him trapped there, when I saw him visibly pale. Matty had taken his Geography Controlled Assessment home the other night, when our teacher had told us not to - she had failed to notice that Matty's folder wasn't in the collection pile.
"I didn't do anything of the sort," he stuttered out.
"Bullshit," Deeks snorted, " you sit on our table... did you think we wouldn't have noticed, that there were five folders handed in rather than six?"
Snobby Matthew sighed, hanging his head, most likely in shame of being caught.
"Fine," he grumbled, "I'll do the work."
I high-fived Deeks.
We weren't forcing Matty to do the work 'cause we we're bullies or anything, 'cause we're anything but bullies; we were making him do the work because we just couldn't be bothered to do anything strenuous, last thing on a Monday.
"Did I just hear correctly," a familiar voice started off, "that you've just blackmailed another student into doing all the work for your ISA?"
I spun around on my stool, and sure enough there was Abi, stood glowering at Deeks and I, with her hands on her hips.
"Not blackmailing per say... just a little forceful persuasion," Deeks replied winking.
