6) Neck Kisses

I was so glad it was Friday today. Two more shitty lessons after lunch, an hour of bullshit at the youth centre after school, then I was free for the weekend, to do whatever the fuck I liked.

The boys and I had already agreed that we were going to go to a party that was being held by one of Lucy's mates, Jessica. Jess was one of those lasses who wasn't a chav but would hang around with the chavvy girls. Jess was an annoying, dumb, blonde who loved to get drunk on a Friday night. How she was even friends with Lucy in the first place I didn't know.

One thing Jess was good at though, was throwing parties and she was throwing one this weekend.

"Abi not here again?" Lucy asked as she parked herself onto Dylan's lap.

True to her word, Abi hadn't sat with us again at lunch or break since Wednesday. I hadn't told Lucy what she had said just in case she changed her mind and came back, but she hadn't.

Not wanting to be the one to upset Lucy (I'd leave that to Abi, when Lucy found out the truth), I had lied and said I didn't know where her friend was and that she could be in the school library.

I had actually seen Abi on my way to the canteen, these last two days. Rather than stay in for lunch, she went out for lunch with some of the more popular students.

I had actually seen her link arms with Lucas Jones today. Apparently Lucas had a bit of a thing for Abi, so he was really happy when she started hanging out with him and his friends.

For some reason though, when I saw her happily walking along the courtyard, laughing at something Luke had said, I felt a little twinge in my stomach. Whether it was from hunger or not I wasn't too sure, but I did know that I wasn't entirely comfortable with Abi being so carefree with Luke.

Luke wasn't a bad guy or anything, he was actually quite a decent person, but I didn't want him being all buddy-buddy with her.

That was supposed to be my job... and Dylan's and Deeks'.

'You lost the chance to be her friend, when you said you pity her,' my subconscious snarked, 'no girl wants to hear you pity her... twat.'

Groaning, I bent my head and rested it on the table. Thoughts about Abi were weighing it down so much, that it felt like it was a burden on my shoulders.

"I thought you said she was at the library," Lucy suddenly said.

"I didn't Luce... I said she could be, there's a big difference," I replied not looking up.

I should've though. Then I could've seen the look of indignation cross Lucy's face, when her best friend completely ignored her as she passed by our table and sat beside Summer and Luke on a table nearby.

"Why's Abi not sitting here?" I heard Lucy ask, her voice small with curiosity.

"I dunno babe," Dylan replied.

"I thought she'd still sit with us, even if we teased her."

"It's probably Deeks' fault," Dylan said reassuring his girlfriend, so that she wouldn't feel as if she were to blame, "he did say that she was disowned from the group."

"Hey!" Deeks protested, "just 'cause you don't want your bird to feel bad, doesn't mean you can try and guilt trip me. Besides, that was ages ago, like, on the first day of term!"

"So are you saying it is your fault, Andrew?" Lucy growled.

"No!" he denied, "I said fuck all to her on Wednesday, except from 'disowned'... but that was a joke and it was, like, two months ago. It's not my fault if she took it seriously, but then again... she's got a stick up her arse, so I'm not surprised."
