As soon as I saw his broken smile I went and sat down next to him. I grabbed his stuff and put it on the seat with mine. I went and gave him a hug. He hugged back almost instantly. We sat there hugging each other for the next 15 minutes on our way to school. Just sitting in silence. "I love you Skylar." He whispers in my ear. I don't know if I love him yet, so I just hug him tighter. Just then the bus pulled up to the school. I let go of him and he let me go. Grabbing my stuff from the seat across, I walk off the bus without saying a word. "Sky!" He calls following me. As I walk to my locker I hear the five minute bell ring. "You better get to class, Bran" I say grabbing my books and walking towards math class. "I don't care about my grades right now!" He shouts at me. I flinch and he notices. "Sorry. I care about you Skylar. What's bothering you?" He asks putting his hand on my back. I move over so he's not touching me. "Dylan hadn't called yet." I say walking out of school. I can't deal with it today. "Skylar!" Brandon calls me again. "Skylar! Come back!" He yells over and over again. I just ignore him and leave. I bump into someone as I walk out of the school property. "Sorry" I say looking at my feet and walking away. "It's alright. Hey um, could you help me?" The boy asks. He sounded familiar but I couldn't figure out where I hear it. "Sure, what's up?" I ask going back over to him. "It's my first day back, and I don't remember the school very well." He says. "Follow me, I'll help you get your stuff settled." I say smiling at him, even though I wasn't really happy. In fact, I was the saddest person I've ever known. Ever since Dylan left, I haven't been happy. "I'm Skylar, by the way." I say as we walk through the halls towards the office. "I'm Connor." He says. "It's nice to meet you Skylar." He says calmly. The way he said my name was way too familiar to just sound similar to someone. "I know this is gonna sound crazy but, have we met before?" I ask turning to face him. "Uh, I don't think so. Why?" He asks rolling his tongue against him teeth. Something Dylan would do when he was lying. "I'm not sure." I say confused. "You're one mystery." He says. "Then I guess you'll have to be Sherlock!" I say happily remembering the first time I met Dylan. I started tearing up again. "Hey, what's wrong?" He asks noticing a tear slip out from my eye. "It's just," I started. "It's okay, just take your time." He says as calm as possible. "My best friend and I had a similar conversation the first time we met." I say wiping a few stray tears from my cheeks. "Why is that making you cry?" He asks confused. "He left." I say simply. "Oh, I'm sorry." He said sadly. "It's alright Connor, you didn't know." I said as we headed into the office.
