As soon as school had finished I started walking home. I didn't really feel like taking the bus today. I decided to text Brandon, so that he wouldn't worry.
S- Hey I'm walking home.
B-Oh okay. See ya soon!
S-Bye Bran
B-Bye Sky
I put my phone away and plugged in my headphones walking down the road. I see a bus pull up to me. Then I realized that without even seeing it, I had walked to the bus stop. "Miss?" The bus driver calls. "Huh? Oh sorry. I'm not getting on." I reply looking at him. "You sure?" He asks. I look in the windows of the bus and see Connor. "Actually, I'll come!" I exclaim climbing into the bus. "Let's go." He says closing the doors as I walking towards Connor. "Hey" I said pulling my headphones off. "Oh, Skylar right?" He asks nervous. "Yeah" I say picking at my nails. "What are you doing here?" He asks. "I dunno. I just sorta walked to the bus stop without realizing it, then I saw you in the window and decided to come talk to you." I said quietly. "Conny." I hear a voice whine. "What is it Lily?" I hear Connor talking. I look over on his other side to see a little girl with Blonde hair and teal tips, tied in little pigtails. "I'm hungry" she says looking at Connor. "All I have is a chocolate bar from mum." He says pulling out a chocolate covered granola bar. "Can I have it?" She asks looking at him with hope in her eyes. "Magic word?" He asks her holding the chocolate bar high so she can't snatch it from him. "Pwease Conny?" She asks. "Here." He says opening the granola bar and handing it to her. She starts purring like a little kitten, rubbing her neck against his arm. "Lily, stop it." He says brushing her off. "Sorry." She says looking down at her chocolate bar. "Who's that?" I ask looking at Lily. "My little sister." He said looking back at me. "She's six." He said looking at her again. "She looks like you." I say looking between Connor and Lily. "Yeah, I guess. She looks more like dad." He said, his eyes not leaving her little body. "Wanna meet her?" He asks leaning towards me. "Sure" I say putting on yet another fake smile. "Lily," he says poking the girl's cheek. "What?" She asks annoyed. "Wanna meet my friend?" He whispers in her ear. She nods really fast. "Skylar, this is my little sister Lily. Lils this is my new friend Skylar." He introduces us. "Nice to meet you Lily." I say holding my hand out to shake hers. She nods again. Probably shy. She leans into Connor hiding her little face in his t-shirt. "Lily, say hi." He says to the little girl. "I can't." She says quietly due to her face still being in Connor's shirt. "Why not?" He asks her. She leans over and whispering something into his ear. "Oh, okay." He says. "She thinks you look like aunt Cathy." Connor tells me. "Who's your aunt Cathy?" I ask confused. "Someone who is dead to our family. We shouldn't even be talking about her right now." He explains. "Oh." I say as the bus stops and Connor gets up. "Come on Lily." He says picking up the girl. "Can I come too?" I ask. "I kind of came on the bus to talk to you. I don't even know where it's going." I say. "Sure. Come on." He says walking off the bus. We walk to the end of the road and up to a mansion. "Whoa" I say to myself. "Like it?" He asks looking at me. "It's huge!" I yell. He presses his thumb to a screen and the gates open. "Let's go!" He says running up to the door. Opening the door, he sets Lily down and she runs off somewhere. "I need to call someone. Be right back." I say walking into a bathroom. I call aunt Arzaylea. "Hey Hun!" She says happily into the phone. "Hey Aunt Arz." I say normally. "Why are you so happy today?" I ask her. "About that," she starts. "Yeah?" I ask. "Dylan called." She said. "What?!" I yell. "Dylan called Luke earlier today and left a voice mail." She said. "Why didn't you tell me?" I ask her. "I'm sorry, I just didn't have time." She said. "It's okay." I said. Just then my phone rang. It was Dylan. "Hey aunt Arz?" I ask. "Yeah?" She questions. "I'm getting another call. I gotta go." I say hanging up. I quickly answer Dylan's call. "Hello?" I ask after a minute of silence. "Hey," he says sadly. "Dylan?" I ask. "Yeah, it's me." He says sounding sadder and sadder with every word he says. "What's wrong?" I ask him. "I can't do this Skylar." He says. I could hear him crying. I heard some wind in the background. "Are you outside?" I ask him. "Yeah, why?" He asks. "I can barely hear you." I reply. "I can't do this anymore Skylar." He says sadly. "Goodbye Skylar." He says then the phone line went dead.
