As Harry and I made our way off the docks to head back up to the school, we were cut off by none other than Barty Crouch.
"Congratulations Potter, fine achievement. Well done boy. I'm sorry we haven't spoken, after all your story is one I've heard many times. Quite remarkable. Tragic of course, to lose one's family. Never whole again are we? Still, life goes on. And here we stand. I'm sure your parents would be very proud today, Potter." He said.
I noticed Harry was uncomfortable as he thanked the man. He looked at me nervously, but other than that he didn't acknowledge me. Not that I mind.
Suddenly Mad-Eye came up to us slowly, a mad look in his eye... Pun not intended. "Bartimus! Not trying to lure Potter into one of the ministry's summer internships are we? Last boy who went into the department of ministries never came out!"
Barty looked at Mad-Eye closely as his tongue flicked out quickly, like a snake. He stormed up to him and studied his face carefully, before walking hastily away.
"And they say I'm mad!" Mad-Eye yelled after him.
I glanced at Harry nervously as we quickly inched around Mad-Eye and met back up with Ron and Hermione.
"What the bloody hell was that about?" Ron asked when we reached them.
"I'm not sure, but Mad-Eye seemed madder than usual. And not the angry kind." I shivered, remembering the flicking of his tongue.
"Well, Professor Moody seems to not be too fond of anyone of authority. I'm sure that's all it's about as Mr. Crouch is a ministry official." Hermione explained, always the voice of reason.
"Yeah, that's probably it." I said uncertainly.
"Let's go! We told Hagrid we would go visit him when you guys are finished the task." Ron as we started towards Hagrid's hut.
He met us halfway, engulfing Harry and I in a huge hug, lifting us off the ground as we were smushed together in his arms. "You gave me a right good scare there, Harry. Until Callie here dove in and rescued ye."
