Please and thank you.
These phrases are common phrases we learn as children. We know we say "please" when we ask for something and say "thank you" when we receive something from a person. People use these phrases often, as a show of politeness (Hopefully). But more often than not,
we tend not to use these phrases with Jesus.

Instead, we focus on how we single-handedly delivered ourselves out of a situation because we had enough faith in ourselves. We forget about Jesus when times get tough and put our trust into ourselves, hoping that we alone will have the strength to overcome a challenge. We even have phrases encouraging that mindset, such as "Believe in yourself."

But a life without asking Jesus for help or thanking him is a life filled with stress and worry. Constantly trying to overcome situations without help will eventually lead to failure. There will come a time in everyone's life where an obstacle becomes so overwhelming, they won't have the power to overcome it alone.

In that moment, where would you go? Perhaps you would ask a friend or family member to help pull you out of that situation. However, it is much easier to ask Jesus for assistance in difficult situations.

Remember that Jesus is capable of doing anything for you. Three days after Jesus died on the cross, he overcome death. He forgave us for our sins and took the punishment of these sins onto himself. Jesus has more power than you can possibly imagine.

"What, then, shall we say in response to this? If God is for us, who can be against us?"
(Romans 8:31)

Jesus wants us to acknowledge Him. When you put your trust into Him by asking for his assistance, you are acknowledging His strength and ability. You are acknowledging that Jesus is capable of doing anything and that He is who you really trust. If you constantly put your trust into Jesus during difficult times, you will find that your once-major problems become minor difficulties. Most importantly, your relationship with Jesus will grow, since you are relying on yourself less and depending on Jesus more.

"Ask and it will be given to you. Seek and you shall find; knock and the door will be opened to you."
(Matthew 7:7)

For everything that happens to you, thank Jesus, no matter if something good or bad happened. Thank Jesus for delivering you out of a crisis. Thank Jesus for making your difficult situations less difficult. Although it may sound odd, thank Jesus for allowing you to encounter large problems. By experiencing different hardships, you are earning an opportunity to put your trust into Jesus and become more dependent on Him. Truly thank Jesus for giving you a chance to get closer to Him through these hardships.

"Give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus."
( 1 Thessalonians 5:18)

By using the phrases Please and Thank you with Jesus, you are showing your need for Jesus and becoming more dependent on Him, which is what Jesus wants. You are acknowledging Jesus's greatness and putting your faith into Him, rather than yourself. In addition, you are receiving Jesus's incredible gifts He has to offer you, which brings Jesus great joy.
