As you travel down the path of Jesus, you'll find yourself stuck in pits of apathy. You'll feel bored and soon fail to remember the importance of acknowledging Jesus throughout your day. These pits make us forget the good days we had with Jesus, where we desired to trust and be with Jesus throughout every part of our day.

Unfortunately, there's no way to avoid these pits. There will always be highs and lows in our relationship with Jesus. As long as we are human, we will struggle with these difficulties in our journey as a follower of Jesus.

However, we should not see these pits as a message of failure. We should not feel discouraged or hopeless when we stumble across them. We must realize that we are flawed and won't always have easy lives as a follower of Jesus. The best way to escape these pits is to realize that they are a gift from Jesus and an opportunity to develop our relationship with Him.

It may seem odd to think that such distractions could be gifts from Jesus. However, these pits give us the opportunity to trust Jesus more than ever. When our road becomes wide and easy, we often forget about how Jesus gave us the power to overcome the obstacles that prevented us from reaching this easy road. Jesus gives us these pits as a wake-up call; to remind us of how important and worthy of our love He is. As strange as it may sound, when we fall into these pits, Jesus is willing to get us out of them and uses that experience as a reminder of His great love for us.

We must remember that when we encounter difficult areas, the love of Jesus shines the brightest. When we become trapped in these pits of apathy and boredom, we can remind ourselves to avert our attention to Jesus. With the help of Jesus, we can escape these pits and fortify our relationship with Him. We must remember Jesus loves when we trust Him. By trusting Jesus even when we feel apathetic and don't desire His help, our relationship with Jesus is fortified.

Let's look at tools, for example. Although tools start out as efficient, they must often be repaired in order to maintain their efficiency. A tool that is not repaired often will likely fail to perform its task. Like tools, we must constantly be repaired by Jesus. If we don't allow ourselves to be changed by Jesus, then we become like dull tools, unable to be used well. So Jesus uses the pits of apathy that we fall into as a change to repair us. Without experiencing hard times, we cannot experience the positive change Jesus provides.

So when you feel like your connection with Jesus is dull, remember that this is an opportunity to grow and learn. Jesus is helping you solidify your trust and faith in Him. Don't try to escape from these pits by yourself, since Jesus is willing to guide you each time.

"Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything."
(James 1:2-4)
